Reading up on this, it sounds like there was a cash bonus if you could film or indeed prank your tracker (sniffer dog) which I remember was something Jane Hewland considered about bringing in to our version at one point, although if you managed to do it in the first three days then during the live show your Sniffer Dog had to pit somewhere and perform a task before continuing. Sniffer Dogs in S2 and 3 were celebrities.

One thing I definitely do like is that the cash earned on the run increases every week they’re in the game, rather than a flat £1,000 daily prize we had here.

Thanks for link – there goes the weekend. And I can’t speak a word of Swedish…
Wanted. Bless it. So glad there was at least one international version.

I do like that prize money improvement. I never found it satisfying that a pair of runners won the same amount for each day unfound in the first week, as a pair of runners on their third week on the run. The longer on the run, the higher you play for each day undetected.

However, I much prefered series 1 – the darker years – than series 2.

Every now and then, I wonder if Wanted could exist today? Of the opinion, probably not.
Back then you only had email and phone, now it would be pretty impossible for the runners to avoid detection for several days, if the show solicited sightings via spotted@wanted.com, instagram and @wantedC4.

To counter the larger number of sightings, there’d have to be some form of clucky obvious format point introduced to give the runners free time to move and the tracker couldn’t move from the overnight stopping point for half an hour or something like that.

And then, come up with something better than having the runners on the run all week, but then force them to huncker down in a phonebox for 90 minutes, whilst a communciations helicopter hovers overhead, to point out roughly where the phone box is.

Oh, and tracker Victoria Fay…(sighs deep in slushy eyed thoughts)

In the new Tom & Jerry movie there’s this small cameo by… Paolo Bonolis?!

Excellent! I was going to ask if this was the sort of role that gets replaced locally, but it probably isn’t!

I’ve read that Luca Laurenti will be a voice in the Italian release.

Ben Shepard and Kate Garraway were talking about this very film on this mornings Good Morning Britain, where they also have a cameo speaking parts in it – so it makes me think, that there is a fleeting role for a national well known face(s) for various countries where the movie will be screened.

Channel 4’s Murder Island sounds like the sort of thing posters here would like:
“Channel 4 has commissioned STV Studios, the producer behind BBC crime drama The Victim, to make genre-bending immersive competition format Murder Island. The six-part series blends factual entertainment and crime drama by asking members of the public to play detective in a murder mystery penned by a yet-to-be-announced major crime writer. They will have one nail-biting week to compete to find out if they’ve got what it takes to solve a murder. The series was developed by STV Studios’ creative director for factual, Craig Hunter; director of development Lucy Hazzard; and executive producer Jonathan Smith. Executive producers are Hunter, Smith, Sara Evans, and David Clews, who also directs. Motion Content Group co-produces with Melanie Darlaston executive producing. Murder Island is funded from Channel 4’s Contestable Pot – a ring-fenced fund to find innovative, channel-defining formats.”

      Casting Notice: https://stv.submit.com/show/3
Their filming in may (with a intended broadcast in the summer, assumingly). notice that they request for “teams of two”… i haven’t seen that approach when it comes to murder mystery reality competitions. Wonder how it will play out, seeing its a six episode run.

“We are looking for teams of two to take on the case. The civilian ‘detectives’ will have police resources at their disposal – pathologists, forensic scientists, psychologists etc. They will be competing to see if they can be the first to identify the suspect and bring them to justice.”

On The Cube AU, the promo for next week’s episode strongly suggests a top-level event will occur, although it doesn’t specifically come right out and say what.

Also, they’ve started going to ad breaks in the *middle* of game attempts. Bad!! But otherwise, it’s as compelling as the original, and I’m slowly warming to the host, who said he “would probably get in trouble for this” when he gave a hint to a team that was doing very, very badly in a slightly funny way.
