The Void

By | March 29, 2021

Voids are normally completely empty spaces, but good luck to ITV in redefining the English language as this void is a 520,000 litre pool of water in “one of the biggest bespoke water tanks ever constructed for a gameshow”. Look here’s the press release. Ashley Banjo (who has completely blocked hosting Can’t Touch This out of his mind apparently, and who can blame him) and Fleur East will be hosting.

This “physical gameshow with a difference” (difference to be determined) sounds a bit like The Cube meets Ninja Warrior over a water tank. And this sounds like Very Much The Sort Of Thing We Like!

However we must point out that we’ve got our “null and Void” and “A Void” gags ready prepared if it doesn’t land. FEAR ME, Gameface.

Incidentally apols for the Bar being down for most of the day (especially if you wanted to talk about the incredible episode of Belgian Mole that went out last night), it was the hosting end.

A rare judging snafu on last night’s Only Connect: In the last round of Missing Vowels (“A classical element, a chemical element, a hip-hop element”!?), the clue was

    RTHH YD RG NR PPNG

The player said, “Earth, hydrogren, and rapping” and got the point, but there’s no “AND” in there. It didn’t change the outcome, though.

    Also: Those connecting walls!

I think the last time we had Connecting Walls that fiendish and clever was when they did that series of Connecting Wall-only games some years back, as a way of promoting the play-along online game that was dropped the following year.

I just want to know whether Fleur East will end up in the water at some point in the series.
