Sidemen Do The Cube

By | February 21, 2022

This came up over the weekend, hot on the heels of taking on The Crystal Maze Live Experience, Youtube sensations and occasional The Wheel experts Sidemen take on the new The Cube Live Experience in Manchester. I’ve only had a chance to skip through thus far, it looks like you play each game for points and you don’t get chucked out as soon as you fail Barrier or whatever.

The Cube Live Experience mainly seems to remind me of what I expected the Cyberdrome Crystal Maze to be like, quite cool but not quite cool enough. Interested to know how many different Cubes they’ve got set up, evidently each has their own member of staff to set and reset the games – obviously there’s a bit more in the moment human judgement on some of them whether it’s a pass or fail that the numerous cameras you have for TV would make easier, here we had a few dodgy decisions. Really not liking the massive window, for atmosphere. I guess they’re trying to make it a bit more Putt Shack than TCMLE but I’m not sure the pricing (which appears to be £60-90 for two people depending on when you go, 90 minute experience promised but you’re sharing it with another team of two) really reflects that.

I will also say that if everyone gets to do a timeslice thing that can be shared on The Socials, then that is a good thing.
