Oh now this is well found by Tom, the legendary Ray Cokes hosting an English language pilot for Effrevescence format Slam in a really unconvincing fashion:
I should have a couple of episodes of Slam somewhere, so I’ll try and do a feature on it at the weekend.
Or at least I was convinced I did, only I can’t find it on my DVD list. Hmm.
It’s a pity, because that could be a decent format with a bit more speed, a few more retakes, and someone like, ooh, Tom O’Connor at the helm.
Hey, never a Crossword, alright?
Interesting format, but was I the only one that thought that Ed looked liked he had a CGI body, or his head was superimposed on someone else’s body on the 3 contestant long shot?
They should have to slam something to indicate they want to slam.
I thought the same thing, surely a missed opportunity.
With a few tweaks I could see that show doing well in the 4:30 BBC2 slot.
“Woo!” Now that’s excitement.
Here’s one full ep. : http://www.wideo.fr/video/iLyROoafIKk8.html
In other unrelated news – let’s give some credit to Endemol Joe since it seems that in Spain, Drop was sucessfull enough to generate an alternate, lower-stakes daily version where contestants can buy-in their way to the weekly big money version for a % of their stack left

That’s quite an interesting idea actually.
Amazing. Does anyone remember three episode wonder Relentless with Rik Edwards? It’s been sold to Abu Dhabi, according to Broadcast.
They need someone suitably alert and with much more finesse to host the game. How about Richard Blackwood? That would surely get the viewers in and they would be sure to stay, man, as they take the show into their hearts. The show would need a major timeslot otherwise it could be vulnerable in the ratings and it would pass away into a void quickly.
Psyche!
Mildly interesting crossword-style format. This might be of interest to GSN, especially if they can find a host who can run the show with some degree of rapidity. Cokes is too laid-back, almost as though he were trying to replace Jeff Stelling and become the fifth host of “Countdown”.
