15 games, one winner. And you can come and join us.

Literally anything could happen. What could possibly go wrong?

The best bit is that the prize is the name of the entire show. Winner stays on, obvs., but will episode two be Schlag den Brig or Schlag dan Peake?

NB Am just messing but it’s got to be a thought.

And whoever’s heard of a show called Schlag dan Peake?

A lot of work’s gone into this, so I do hope everyone can make it. More details later in the week!

I genuinely had no clue to the intention until recording Fifty50 this evening (although it was suggested I save the date a few weeks ago), and it sounds like it could be hilarious.

David told me after the latest Puzzled Pint on Tuesday!

I’m looking forward to hearing your reaction on Fifty50 – I was surprised, this is going to be epic and amazing!

            Bring it on!!

Oh, and if you live in the Cambridge area, could you please try and nobble any local librarians. Thanks.

Unfortunately, the actual announcement to Brig happened after the end of the show. Fortunately, I have the skype recording so I can just cut the appropriate bit out of that later and upload it separately.

I don’t think I’ll be able to make the live broadcast. Will it be available to watch later?

We will *try* to record it to YouTube in the same way as the ‘regular’ Schlag broadcasts. However, since we are pushing the technical envelope somewhat, and because YT does not successfully save the videos sometimes, I would strongly advise people to watch the live feed if they want to be certain of seeing it.

It does look like YouTube has extended its maximum running time from 4 hours to 8, so no longer will we have to change streams during an SdR broadcast.

This is very exciting. I’m wondering now how the props can be assembled without the contestants knowing in advance what said props are and thus having the chance to practice possible games using them. I’m envisioning David sending out a big box marked “do not open before the show starts”, waiting to watch the players open the boxes at the start of the game… only for there to be separate wrapped boxes within the big box containing the props for the appropriate games. It’d be like Christmas!

I also have memories of the edition of the commentary of SdR where someone broke into a falsetto and burst out with One Moment In Time at the appropriate moment. I think it was Dan – but as he’s the nominal challenger, you wouldn’t expect him to serenade a victorious Brig by song at the point of victory…

(Also, Brig, you might want to update the copyright years listed in the footer. Or you might not.)

Just like Risk Legacy, but with less tearing up cards. Unless Tearing Up Cards is one of the games.

Is it going to be the 9 game or 15 game version? I hope I can watch it, I’m a Celebrity is on at nearly the same time and some say they blocked the opportunity to record it :/

    As promised some further details:

The event will take place live this coming Saturday night, broadcast to everyone on a YouTube link that we will publicise here and on Twitter. Sometimes YouTube doesn’t save videos properly, and we don’t know if we’re going to be nobbled by rights issues, so do join us ‘live’ to be sure of seeing it.

There will be 15 games, worth 1 to 15 points like the real show, with the aim being to score a total of 61 or more. In the event of technical malfunction, the points will be shared equally and we move on.

I will be taking the role of Steven, explaining the games and asking any questions. As a fearsome competitor with multiple skills (e.g. he can bounce pens off his head) and the utmost belligerence, Nick/Brig is the natural fit as Stefan. Dan Peake takes the role as hopeless no-chance candidate. Lewis will be acting in multiple roles including timekeeper, commentator, and (in the event of any disputes) notary.

This is essentially an amateur-hour production done just for fun with no prizes. However, we have tried to push the boat out in a few places.

In particular, Dan and Nick have been sent a parcel of objects which includes some generic items like buzzers, pens and timers, but also five sealed envelopes which contain mystery props. These will be opened live during the broadcast. Apart from a couple of necessary hints, Dan and Nick have no idea what they’ll be asked to do.

    The approximate schedule will be:
7.55pm – have the stream running and publicised
    8.00pm – pre-show begins
    8.15pm – Game 1 starts

We’re aiming to finish before midnight, but it depends on how smoothly everything runs.

Your comments to the events are welcomed, and we’ll try to read some out during occasional breaks. You can use the hashtag we’ll publicise at the time, or leave longer comments on YouTube itself.

Final note: it seems YouTube has extended its maximum video time beyond 4 hours, so no longer will we have to ‘switch streams’ halfway through – for this or SdR proper.

We hope to see you there!

When we get to game nine or so can we start to expect some frustrated swearing in German?
