The Non-Masked Non-Singer

By | July 8, 2020

The BBC has commissioned its very own version of Korean hit I Can See Your Voice, where teams have to try and determine which of a group of people can or can’t sing based solely on everything else except for actually singing.

“Mystery music gameshow” is going to be the buzzphrase of choice going forward isn’t it? Also it’s promising to be “immersive”.

In other news I’m moving flat in the next few days (and it’s also my birthday tomorrow, 39, thanks in advance) but fingers crossed I should be online again properly (i.e. not on mobile data) for Fort Boyard‘s 2020 premiere on Saturday. Exciting!

A fun question that came up on Twitter

We discussed it yesterday afternoon, but in case you missed it, I was asked if the BBC did their own Epic Gameshow/Gameshow Marathon, what six shows would be in it?

My personal conclusion is that it would be something like Wipeout, Every Second Counts, The Weakest Link, Bob’s Full House, Big Break and Winning Lines, although you could probably substitute Going for Gold or Pets Win Prizes for the latter.

Edit: Here’s an entertaining post on how terrifying the Knightmare Life Force skull was.

Bother’s Bar Plays Badly: Pub Trivia Simulator

By | July 3, 2020

Some Friday fun for you as some quizzing experts, and myself, take on Codemasters mighty Pub Trivia Simulator from 1989 on the ZX Spectrum 128k. Will anyone beat the grid and make it to the Money Maze where they could take home tens of pennies, or with just one wrong answer will they end up just propping up the bar?

Also! This weekend I’m going to be recording Vol 2 of The Flying Brig-et Presents Gameshow Sound Effects, so if you have any requests leave them here.

Have you got what it takes to beat The Cube?

They’re looking for pairs, intrigued to see if this means we’ll get two player games or if they’ll stick to one player with the other one shouting encouragement. Or both! What could be more exciting then your partner losing £100,000 you had both earned, after all.
