Show Discussion: The Beat Goes On

By | August 24, 2011

11pm, Channel Five

This is on tonight as it turns out, although for some reason it’s on at 11pm and not nine as originally thought. Truly an entertainment show they’ve got a lot of confidence in, evidently.

Anyway thus us Gallowgate’s answer to Name That Tune because they couldn’t get the rights to Name That Tune. It features Dave Berry (a name sure to bring the kids in) and a dance machine end game.

I’ll be watching this on catch up, so look forward to readung your opinions.

Alright, there’s not much happening right now. Normally at this juncture I’d put a video up. Because I’m on the iPad (not for much longer, fingers crossed) I can’t embed video thanks to the wonders of mobile websites.

But I can link, if you missed it on Monday here is the preview of Shooting Stars doing The Cube. It’s not the full affair, but I think you get the idea.

I had it in my head that The Beat Goes On starts tonight, but it turns out this isn’t the case. Don’t worry, hopefully I will have Proper Content for you in the evening.

Board of Excitement 21st – 27th August 2011

By | August 22, 2011

After all the excitement of last week this week seems a bit of a disappointment. Only Connect this week are the Edwards Family vs Inorganic Chemists (8:30, BBC4), Celeb Big Brother is on all week (Various, C5), I will have a backlog of Take the Money and Run to catch up on (Tuesday, ABC). Ant and Dec’s answer to Name That Tune The Beat Goes On fronted by Dave Berry begins Wednesday on Five and Saturday sees Epic Win and obviously a Total Wipeout Celeb Special (from 5:20, BBC1) which is of interest because I think it’s the first episode on the new course. So there we are.

That’s Yer Pi(Lot): The Speed of Light

Well I was hoping to go and see this at Television Centre this evening, but despite getting a text message looking forward to me going, the BBC Ticket Unit seem to have neglected actually sending me any tickets. Thanks BBC Ticket Unit! My licence fee, etc!

Still never mind, saves me fifty quid in travel. However if you go then we are of course very interested in your experiences.

All I know is that it’s a lottery show, seven people get whittled down to three and the set is visually impressive. Also it sounds just a little bit like Press Your Luck.

Saturday Night’s Alright For Writing – 20th August

By | August 20, 2011

Other than Epic Win which we’ve already given a Show Discussion post, there are a coupke of interesting shows this evening – new series of Secret Fortune and The X Factor begin this evening, Celebrity Big Brother continues with its first proper highlights show (apparently Mohummed Al Fayed is dropping in to visit this weekend) and of course it’s the last in the series of Fort Boyard on France 2. You can write about all these and more.

Edit: And I keep forgetting it’s Live Millionaire Soap Star Special tonight and tomorrow.

Whatever you’re doing tonight, have a good one.

Show Discussion: Epic Win

5:30pm, BBC1

I largely suspect everything I said about the pilot is likely to still stand. Basically this is a comical take on You Bet! with added Chicken element. I thought the pilot was highly enjoyable, hopefully it translates well to TV.
