What WILL that Tom Scott get up to next?

By | November 30, 2012

There’s probably a proper format in this. Anyway, a couple of months ago certified Friend of the Bar and PROPER CELEBRITY Tom Scott did a game on Twitter called Don’t Get Your Hopes Up – a present was hidden in an Amazon locker somewhere in London, the location and code were released on Twitter, first person to get there won what was inside. It was a CD copy of Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up. It was quite exciting to follow and I laughed for hours.

Well now, with friend Dan, it’s BACK and it’s TIMES TWENTY-FOUR and might have some good prizes this time (might). A new prize up for grabs every day. If you’re in London, you might want to check out the page for Advent Locker. The official Twitter is here.

Oh man! It’s MAN THURSDAY on Bother’s Bar

By | November 29, 2012

Now I’m pretty sure I was searching for pictures of *A* man…

LADS, get ready for EXCITING MAN ON MAN SMACKDOWN ACTION (also featuring women) as we do MALE THINGS (also featuring women) such as:

  • PLAY POKER! AGGRESSIVENESS will probably win you possibly hundreds of dollars in the Bother’s Bar Christmas Bonus. It’s a $10+1 deep and steep unlimited rebuy event and it’s open to everyone provided they’re a member of the Bother’s Bar Poker Club. The club is free to join but don’t delay as I will have to approve you, and I’m not going to be able to do that until I get home at about 7:30. The game begins at 8pm. There is ten minutes late registration, but your best shot is to register early, you won’t be very disadvantaged if you turn up late.
  • LIFT THINGS! It’s World’s Strongest Man on Five at 8pm, for some reason!
  • QUIZBOXING! It’s the second of Stefan Raab’s TV Total Quizboxen events. We discussed the first one here, and you’ll probably be able to watch on a naughty stream. It is scheduled to begin at 9:55pm UK time and should be live.

Have I Got David Attenborough For You

By | November 27, 2012

This has just popped up on SRO Audiences. I offer it without comment:

Can a cockroach live for a week without its head? Can an octopus get an erection? Can a comedian tell the difference between badger and bat poo?

Join wildlife expert and TV presenter Chris Packham for the pilot of his hilarious new comedy wildlife panel show, Nevermind The Woodcocks, and you might well find out.

Our host Chris is joined by our two celebrity teams as they compete over a series of funny animal-based rounds.

Nevermind The Woodcocks is the new mischievous comedy panel show that proves what a completely entertaining place the natural world really is. A place where fact is always funnier than fiction.

The pilot is being recorded in London on Monday 17th December 2012 at The Rada Studio Theatre (formerly The Drill Hall), 16 Chenies Street, WC1E 7EX (nearest tube Goodge Street). If you would like to join us for a night of fun, then apply now!

If that sounds appealing, and goodness knows what channel this is being aimed at, you can apply for tickets here.

In other news, the Jeffrey Salmon’s Four Rooms position to be covered by a series of rotating dealers including Tamara Beckwith.

Fifty 50 Ten

By | November 26, 2012

Hurrah! The new episode of Fifty 50 Show is out and about and this week features Dave Mattingly and Andy “Keshihead” Sullivan joining Lewis Murphy for a chat about gameshow news and a recent recording of The Common Denominator, which people still seem to refer to as “The ComDom” despite the fact that that doesn’t technically work as a joke.

PLUS! Andy attempts quiz’s most heartstopping and brutal quiz, 21 Questions Wrong, for a shot at my actual real cash. Will he win? And if YOU want to be a future contestant, let us know.

If you want to be a guest on Fifty 50, why not let Lewis know? It’s always fun listening to new blood.

Bother’s Bar’s Sunday Round-up

By | November 25, 2012

Ought to write something. I’m very busy in the run-up to Christmas, and there’s not much in the way of news, although I’ve got some exciting stuff coming up for you when I’ve got the time to do it.

  • Thanks to Iain Weaver for his generous write up of The Line Up in his latest Week – the next one is happening soon and it will probably be the de facto Xmas/New Year episode, hopefully getting back to monthly for the end of January.
  • There’s another game of 21 Questions Wrong on Fifty50 Show tomorrow starring Andrew Sullivan aka @Keshihead. This is good fun.
  • We were alerted to a new Flemish quiz called Twee Tot De Zesde Macht (Two to the Sixth Power, although Two to the Power Six is probably a better translation for reasons that will become apparent). It is quite clever and good fun and will be getting the Weekend Special treatment when I’ve got a spare afternoon. The official page is here, but if you want to watch an episode I’m sure if you tried searching for it on Google something nautical and naughty might crop up. FUN FACT: Host Bart de Pauw is one of the creators of De Mol. What a guy. Thanks once again to our friend Vierkante O for alerting us to this, you can read his excellent blog here.
  • This week’s Only Connect semi-final features the Footballers vs Draughtsmen. BBC4, Monday, 8:30.
  • Five have started showing World’s Strongest Man on Thursday nights. Who knew?
  • Don’t forget that this Thursday is Bother’s Bar’s GRR MAN THURSDAY (also featuing women) where we will be GAMBLING then watching BOXING with QUIZ ELEMENTS. Join us for the poker at 8pm – you need to be a member of Bother’s Poker Club to play (that bit is free but I have to approve you so don’t leave it until the last minute), all the details here. Then at 9:55pm it’s the next TV Total Quizboxen event we’ll probably be watching on a naughty stream.
  • Pointless Celebrities got well over five million last night. That is a bit good.
