Patrick Moore

By | December 10, 2012

You have probably read that Patrick Moore died yesterday at the age of 89, for many he’ll be remembered for The Sky at Night, for those of us of a certain age it will be as the GamesMaster. Here’s the final episode, he’s not in it much but it’s sort of poignant.

In other news Take It All starts in the US on Monday night, when we’ve got a spare moment (we’re very busy this week) we’ll have a look. Do feel free to post an opinion if you see it. Fingers crossed, there’s also a NEW EDITION of The Line Up coming this weekend, and something else.

31 Questions Right

By | December 8, 2012

This weekend’s MOST EXCITING news is that Bother’s Bar’s favourite Australian cable access comedy quiz show, 31 Questions, is returning to Channel 31 in Melbourne for a second series next year. Well done David M Green and team, really pleased for you. If you’ve not seen 31 Questions, watch them all now.

In other news Fort Boyard: Ultimate Challenge began this morning. Have’t had the chance to watch it, so what have they changed to make it into an hour long format?

Poker with Jonathan Ross

By | December 6, 2012

This has sneaked up on us, Jonathan Ross is fronting a poker entertainment pilot filming this Saturday, the idea being that Ross, four of his celebrity friends and a Pokerstars qualifier will be playing for charity. Emphasis on entertainment rather than poker. Stefan Raab does this sort of thing occasionally as well.

If you’re free in London on Saturday, why not apply for a ticket? I’d dearly love to go but I’m busy. Guests are Victoria Coren, Boris Becker, John Bishop and Jason Manford, so basically proper celebs running the gamut of ability. Also if you go, let us know if it’s any good, ta.

I’m sure there’s at least regular one reader who hasn’t been on yet

Well here’s your chance:

Would you like to take part in the next series of Only Connect? We’re looking for teams of three players who share a common passion, ability or profession, to pool their combined wits to solve fiendish conundrums and vexing puzzles. If you fancy the challenge then contact us at onlyconnect@parasolmedia.co.uk!

MEANWHILE, here’s an interesting post on DS suggesting tea times are about to get very messy in January. Don’t know if that’s exactly how it will pan out, but it looks like Deal or No Deal vs Tipping Point vs Perfection and Flog It leading up to the Pointless vs The Chase (which has been getting about 4m recently) finale. It’s all very exciting. And somewhere there’s The Common Denominator to consider as well.

At last!

Finally, FINALLY counting to thirty in your head will become all the rage as The National Lottery Break the Safe becomes an actual reality. Nick Knowles to host, broadcast 2013.

I hope they’ve made it a bit… better in the interim. It will replace Secret Fortune.

Also of interest, STV/Wild Rover working on a high stakes game featuring comedy pilot for the BBC. Avanti un Altro shows this can work very well, so intrigued to see what becomes of it.

In other news, the ALL NEW Fort Boyard: Ultimate Challenge (it’s just UK teens this time AS I PREDICTED) begins its new sixty minute (well, 55) episode run on Saturday at 8:30 on ITV1, ITV1 HD AND the CITV Channel, continuing on Sunday at the same time on the same channels, the French Boyard Christmas Special will be going out on the 22nd December where it will be up against the Xmas special of Dancing With The Stars.
