It’s Super Singing Smackdown Saturday!

By | March 24, 2012

It’s the Saturday night television battle that THE WHOLE WORLD is waiting for. IN THE BLUE CORNER, the reigning champion of the world, a variety talent show that let’s be honest might as well be a singing competition Britain’s Got Talent (ITV1, 8pm) and IN THE RED CORNER worldwide undefeated up and coming singing sensation The Voice UK (7pm, BBC1). WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN? Needless to say, I’m actually going out this evening.

Or maybe you’d like to try the special third option, Elton vs Simon: The Liveshow is on Pro Sieben 7:15 UK time (and hopefully live streaming) this evening. Elton vs Simon is the German adaptation of the Canadian show Kenny vs Spenny, except a bit more game-y, but likewise the loser faces a hilarious forfeit. And this time it’s LIVE!

Tonight also sees two of The Saturdays take on The Million Pound Drop, returning for a new run tonight from 9:20pm on C4.

And tomorrow we’re playing Pot Limit Omaha as part of Mix It Up Real Good. In theory it’s 8pm UK time, although as the clocks change this evening don’t be surprised if I have to cancel it tomorrow morning and then redo it so it starts at the correct time. Register now!!!

Edit: And the results! Massive numbers for The Voice, it’s really hit the ground running.

Go and see Pointless

There you go, if you want something to do during May and June, Pointless is filming more episodes and as we say time and again it’s well worth going to see live.

Meanwhile The Big Quiz with Stephen Mulhern which pitched stars of Emmerdale vs Coronation Street against each other seemed to be enough of a hit that they’re doing it again with the stars of Benidorm and The Only Way is Essex. There also appears to be a sporty edition pitching men against women happening as well. Both of those film in Manchester.

It’s High Finance Wednesday on Bother’s Bar!

Exciting things abound:

  • It’s the Budget! Because isn’t politics, right, the biggest gameshow of them all yeah?
  • Four Rooms returns for risky buying and selling, C4 at 8pm.
  • The new series of the bladdy Apprentice begins this evening on BBC1 at 9pm! Look out for Twitter quoting the contestants sounding like idiots!
  • And it’s the final ever Accumulate!, and you can certainly bank on Dan Peake coming out with a pun or two!

That’s your High Finance Wednesday, here on Bother’s Bar.

Actually I do quite like this

Love Will Set You Free, this year’s UK entry into Eurovision.

If it was in foreign, I’d probably accuse it of being boring. However I think it’s quite poignant and, well, nice, although I think Humperdinck belting out “freeee!” is a bit jarring.

Top 15.

Le mot même plus

If you’re in France tonight there’s a two hour Des Chiffres et Des Lettres 40th birthday special (it’s a bit late, the airdate for the first episode was 4th January 1972 according to the ever reliable Wikipedia). It’s on France 3 at 8:35 French time (that’s 7:35 in the UK). Your best bet is to find a VPN and watch it on Pluzz I’d imagine.
