Schlag den Raab 17th March 2012

By | March 17, 2012

7:15pm UK (8:15 CET),
Pro Sieben or (fingers crossed) internet streaming

It’s the first Schlag den Raab of the 2012! After winning the previous battle in December 66-0, Stefan Raab has a million Euro to defend. Hopefully tonight’s batch of contestants will put up a bit more of a fight.

I’m not going to be here for the start, but the regular punters normally offer up a commentary if you want to join the live discussion.

Bringing a new meaning to event television

By | March 15, 2012

Carol Vorderman’s doing a show called Revolution, threatening to be a “ground-breaking new gameshow” that “will bring a new meaning to event television!” This is for ITV1HD.

Having whinged that I haven’t been to see anything for ages, the recording coincides precisely with the one evening in March (Sat 31st) I’m already travelling to London to go and see something else happen, so if you want to go along please do and let us know what you think.

Meanwhile, Inventor Tom Pellereau has unveiled his first thing since winning The Apprentice last year, a curved nail file set called Stylfile. Mmm. Coincidentally, the new series of The Apprentice starts next Wednesday – is launching a new product off the next series of The Apprentice going to be a new thing, X Factor style?

Schlag den Geography

By | March 14, 2012

Right, if you can’t find a naughty live stream for Schlag den Raab at the weekend (7:15 UK time, Saturday), a place called Film On shows Pro Sieben Austria (it will be showing it at the weekend), although presumably unless you sign up to it you’re limited to seven minutes before it will cut you off. HOWEVER, the free iPhone/iPad app doesn’t seem to suffer from the time limit, so you should be able to watch it via that route if you can’t find a reliable naughty stream. There is also an Android version (untested) and a native PC/Mac version (also, I must stress before you try it and it might put crap on your computer, untested).

So there you go. I will set up a discussion post on Saturday.

A televisual triumph

By | March 12, 2012

Televisual genius Simon Cowell the COMEBACK KING has DONE IT AGAIN! Red or Black is returning for a second series, but there will be more “skill and judgement” this time round, so that’s alright then. Other changes include a £500,000 rolling jackpot endgame, so look out for more exciting informed tea table and internet chat as to how much the end game may or may not be costing ITV and if they’ll go bankrupt.

Show Discussion: Breakaway

By | March 12, 2012

Weekdaily, 4:30pm

New Nick Hancock fronted quiz in the Perfection slot, boasting the longest set in quiz history if we recall what they were saying correctly. Six people compete for £10,000, deciding to work as a team or attempt to break away and take all the money for themselves. Sounds a bit like cycling.

Anyway, let us know what you think, not only about the show but whether you reckon it’s one word or two.

Board of Excitement 10th March – 17th March (feat. the Gambling Commission)

By | March 10, 2012

No, it’s NOT April Fool’s Day, we’re just doing the Board of Excitement a day early.

  • In It To Win It – new series of the WILL THEY JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION quiz show. (8:30pm, Saturday, BBC1)
  • The Bank Job Final (9pm, Saturday, C4) And celeb specials next Friday and Saturday.
  • The Love Machine – in which Moyles and Solomon attempt to find people true love with a big machine. (6pm, Sunday, Sky Living)
  • Mix It Up Real Good – This week we’re all riding the HORSE. And you can come on this ride too if you want, it is free to enter. (8pm, Sunday, Pokerstars)
  • Wie is De Mol? Find out – at last! – who the Mole is, and everything they did. And find out who the winner is as well. (Hopefully Monday on Youtube)
  • Breakaway – There appears to be a lot of confusion as to what this is called, however it is definitely called Breakaway, and the whole thing appears to be based on cycling road races. Is it better to stay in the pack and share the £10,000 with better numbers, or attempt to breakaway and win the money for yourself? Nick Hancock hosts, we will have a show discussion page up for it on Monday. (4:30pm, Weekdaily, BBC2)
  • Schlag den Raab – Episode 33, and it’s been three whole months since the last one and there’s a million euro to defend after last episode’s whitewash. Incidentally, no Pointless Celebs next week because of the rugby. Again. (8pm UK time, Next Saturday ProSieben and naughty online streaming hopefully)

Meanwhile, Baggage pilot for C4 films Wednesday week at The London Studios. Don’t know who is hosting. Can’t go myself, but if you do then let us know what it’s like.

Meanwhile, this very interesting story from the Daily Mail came up at the weekend re: gambling and gameshows. Worth a read, because its implications could be pretty far reaching, and not necessarily in a good way.
