Show Discussion: Schlag den Raab

By | September 18, 2010

7:15pm UK / 8:15pm Germany, ProSieben or hopefully naughty internet streaming

Well, it’s back from its sommerpause (that means summer break) and tonight Stefan Raab defends his €1m from another challenger, probably by winning a game involving predicting precisely how many crisps it takes to weigh exactly 245 grams on some sort of weighing scale, making sure to use at least three different types.

It’s also Celebrity Total Wipeout tonight at 6:30. Jeff Brazier is a contestant. And Merlin is on after that, so by the time that finishes SDR should have finished selecting a player. That is your evening taken care of, do remember to eat.

Brilliantly, it looks like there’s an official stream! Actually on reflection it probably isn’t. Still though.

I can’t believe nobody noticed…

… it’s Series 3, Celebrity Episode 1 (of 2) of Total Wipeout tomorrow.

Other things this weekend: Schlag den Raab, new series of The Cube starting Sunday (look out for Show Discussion posts for those two), The INTERACTIVE Board of Excitement AND! one OR MAYBE TWO App reviews.

The Games are BACK! Sort of.

By | September 16, 2010

Well, The EXTREME Games. Well, Famous and Fearless at any rate. Broadcast suggest 12 celebrities will be doing things like monster truck racing, skydiving and the like for two hours a night live across a week on Channel 4 with the best celebrities winning money for local community projects in their home town.

The Games was, of course, smashing. But this is a Princess Production rather than Endemol, so who knows what’ll happen.

Channel 4 are also doing a show called Four Rooms, which is being billed as Antiques Roadshow meets Deal or No Deal. People sell items and they get offers one by one by people in some rooms, once you reject an offer there’s no going back. Fascinating.

Does this mean it might have some effort put into it then?

Potentially some very exciting news – you may have heard new BSkyB acquisitions Bravo and Channel One are getting the axe. Well, apparently the Channel One spot on Freeview will be taken up by Challenge.

Will this mean they’re going to put a bit of effort into their programming now, which they haven’t done for a while? Exciting times.

Have a chat about things

By | September 13, 2010

I am, as it turns out, immensely busy for much of this week 🙁

So because I’m not sure I’m going to be able to keep up, here’s a place to have a chat. About things.

Oh that’s interesting, just did some research on 71 Degrees North, a) it’s been running in Norway since 1999 (71 Grader Nord), and b) there was a US version called No Boundaries, seemingly in 2002, except they went through Canada rarher than Norway. Anyone?

INTERACTIVE Board of Excitement 12th September – 18th September 2010

By | September 12, 2010

I think there is some quite exciting stuff on this week, but in actual fact I’m about to go to Shropshire for the weekend and forgot to put this in until the very last minute. Um.

Anyway I’ll be back later today by the time you read this, so what’s exciting between now and next Saturday?

Edit: The results are in, and the spelling mistakes have been corrected.

  • It’s new American Season day! (Monday, various channels in the US): New Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy begin today. And probably some other things, I don’t know.
  • Cupcake Wars (7:30pm, Weeknights, Food Network): Can you believe it’s National Cupcake Week? Neither can I, frankly.
  • Only Connect (8:30pm, Monday, BBC4): The Urban Walkers vs the Wrights, who seemingly in an Only Connect first apppar to be members of the same family.
  • Antiques Master (8:30pm, Monday, BBC2): I’m informed it’s the grand final this week for Sandi Toksvig and chums.
  • 71 Degrees North (9pm, Tuesday ITV1): Survivor: Arctic, basically, but actually not too shabby at all based on Saturday’s opener. Not sure the X Factor-esque next time bits are entirely necessary.
  • Big Brother US final, Survivor season premiere (Wednesday, CBS)
  • QI (8:30pm, Friday, BBc1 and HD): Series H begins.
  • Schlag den Raab (7:15pm UK time/8:15pm CET+1, Saturday, ProSieben): Back after its summer break with €1m on offer. Let’s hope there’s some naughty internetness.

So there we are. And YES! Some more iPad reviews when a) I have time and b) when I can sort a teeny site problem out.
