Banijay show spotted on SRO:
Have you triumphed against the odds?
Or stared hardship in the face and won?
Then this is the challenge for you! We’re making an epic game show for the toughest competitors that have ever lived…the survivors of modern life.
Whatever your story, we want to hear it and send you to an exotic location to compete for a life changing amount of money, that isn’t for sharing.
All you have to do now is have a game plan!
Contact us now for more information. More details on the programme will be provided on application but please think along the lines of Castaway meets Last Man Standing.
We can’t be 100% as there’s been no announcement or anything, but this couldn’t sound more like Survivor if it tried, could it? Banijay have the rights and everything.
In other news, remember to join us on Saturday night for Bother’s Bar’s Jackbox 6 Game Night, where previous champions will battle it out across ALL NEW games!
You wonder what network it’s for… my gut says Channel 5 maybe?
What if… It’s a revival of the Mole? Unlikely, but we can always dream…
They were shopping the rights around again recently, but they couldn’t have Mole be just on one island.
Maybe the whole thing about the island is a bluff.
Itv is developing a show called “trust me I’m a six year old”
https://www.itv.com/presscentre/press-releases/itv-studios-and-atresmedia-studios-launch-co-developed-family-format-trust-me-im-six
In the ‘bit weird’ corner, anybody notice that ITV2 have started repeating Rylan’s Supermarket Sweep each weeknight in the same 8pm slot? Hope viewers have short memories.
They’re rating just as well as some of the first run episodes as well at about 220k and doing a few thousand better than Celebrity Coach Trip on E4.
Now that is the most “trying to be subtle but is still very much blantant on what show this is” casting call i have ever seen in my entire life. why the secrecy? is survivor not known in the uk? (Very much doubt it, there has to be some UK channel that airs it!). curious to see what are they going for this time around…
There were two series in the UK around 2001, other than Challenge showing the first US series, no, US series never shown over here.
It’s a bit of a cliche that in fictional player-vs.-house game shows, or game show related games, that the final task to win a show is to unexpectedly take on and defeat the host. Has this cliche ever actually been done in real life?
I can think of two apparent counterexamples which count as near misses to me: in Win Beadle Stein & HG’s Money you were playing against the host from halfway through the game, and the twist of player-vs.-host in Beat The Star didn’t feature a contestant who had already taken on and beaten competition already. (Similarly, while Stefan Raab is a host, he’s not the host of the show.)
Are we counting Take The Tower here? Not sure to what degree ‘unexpectedly’ is a factor (because presumably once the format is established, it’s not going to be particularly unexpected!)
It’s not a *finale*, but a round within it, but there’s the ‘play against Shaun Williamson in a list quiz’ round of Al Murray’s Great British Pub Quiz.
I do, of course, regard Smash TV as a documentary.
If we’re doing that, my video game gameshow-panel-game that I do at conventions counts too.
Take The Tower is exactly the sort of thing I’m after, thanks. Glad one of us remembered it!
