Some dates for your diary

By | May 16, 2011

Buzzerblog have updated this afternoon with dates of forthcoming quite interesting US things of the sort we’re Very Much Interested In:

  • Wipeout returns for a sneak preview of the new season on June 21st (i.e. it’s an episode), then the season begins proper two days later on June 23rd, which is one of those baffling things that only happens in America. This is on ABC.
  • 101 Ways To Leave a Gameshow begins on ABC on June 21st after the Wipeout preview. I’m really looking forward to seeing the show that Endemol always wanted to make now it is free from the dictatorial constraints of the BBC.
  • Expedition Impossible follows Wipeout on Thursday June 23rd. This appears to be Mark Burnett’s Worldwide Adventure Racing EXTREME.
  • Take the Money and Run – law enforcement evading game codeveloped by Wild Rover of Secret Fortune fame begins on ABC on August 2nd.

Evidently The Million Dollar Drop proved so popular that Fox don’t want to air it as they feel it unfair on the other networks (joke idea nicked off of Lee and Herring).

Fingers crossed The Amazing Race Australia might be “available” from places this evening.

Board of Not Much Excitement 15th-21st May 2011

By | May 15, 2011

To be honest not much this week, although I’m determined to watch an episode of Show Me the Monet before it finishes this week (weekdaily, 5:15pm, BBC2) and tonight’s celebs on Scream If You Know the Answer hosted by Eurovision FAILURE Duncan James are Louie Spence vs Tamsin Outhwaite (7pm) and Jack Osbourne vs Joanna Page (7:30pm, Sunday, Watch on Sky 109 and Virgin 124). It is another round of hilarious poker contest The BotherSOP next Sunday.

So in lieu of that, here’s something I hadn’t seen before that @keshikingdom alerted me to this morning: We all know Storm the Castle, the US pilot of Takeshi’s Castle I did a feature on years and years ago that I have just discovered I haven’t touched up for BB3.0 that will be sorted in a moment, but I was unaware of King of The Mountain, another go at it, that somebody has put  an episode up on Youtube of.

Incidentally, that feature on Storm the Castle is now up.

Eurovision Song Contest 2011

By | May 14, 2011

Wooh yeah! I’m so excited about this.

Join Graham Norton at 8pm on BBC1 for the Eurovision Song Contest live from Dusseldorf (or if you prefer Ken Bruce on Radio 2). 25 countries are competing in the grand final, including Ireland with Jedward’s Lipstick (which as song number 6 behind other upbeat numbers from Sweden and Estonia is a really bad draw for them) and the UK’s Blue with I Can who will be the 14th to sing. Hit the red button for singalong lyrics!

This year promises dynamic voting to make things as exciting as possible (although it’s based on the national juries votes taken from yesterday’s dress rehersal, so it may not work all that brilliantly in practice) and in a first, electronic voting from the Bother’s Bar venue of choice (i.e. an iPad with Numbers) so I might be chipping in with some stuff if I can get the wi-fi connected. It’s all VERY EXCITING.

You can see the running order and download a scorecard from the BBC here.

Happy International Rachel Stevens Day!

By | May 13, 2011

I’m so excited about this, we’ve got our Rach flag up and flying and everything. Today is dedicated to pop chanteuse Rachel Stevens, of whom Come and Get It was one of the greatest pop albums of the last decade. This day came about because really, when she comes back with new material she ought to cover Kate Ryan’s Eurovision classic Je t’adore and Jedward’s Lipstick.

At this juncture we wanted to put up something Rachel and gameshow related. Unfortunately the only bit of Rachel Stevens on Dick ‘n’ Dom In Da Bungalow appears to be this:

Which is not actually the sort of Dick and Dom/Rach thing we wanted 🙁

In other news, @OfficialBanker is desperate for everyone to watch today’s Deal or No Deal and is asking people for their Twitter commentary on #dealornodeal. Apparently something happens today that has never happened before.
