Ooh, nice

Here’s some fun, there’s a free official Knightmare point and click adventure game in development coming out next year to tie in with the show’s 40th anniversary, featuring characters voiced by many of the original cast. Details on the official site.

We never played the Amiga one back in the day, but lets hope it’s better than then Spectrum one.

I went to see Knightmare Live at the Leicester Square Theatre last night (front row seat, didn’t get up on stage and play myself, original Lord Fear actor Mark Knight had a tiny cameo at the end) and very much enjoyed it, though it was slightly more of a piss-take than I was expecting. Would go again, would volunteer to be an on-stage helper next time, even if not a player.

I mention it here because there was a flyer distributed for this very game on the way out highlighting that the game will feature cameos from Hugo Myatt, Mark Knight, Clifford Barry, Katharine Bennett-Fox, Edmund Dehn, Iona Kennedy, Paul Valentine and Alec Westwood. Not clear what the business model is here, but on the other side of the flyer was an advert for (presumably the same people’s) Fighting Fantasy-esque gamebook (one book, four unconnected 100-reference mini adventures) so maybe the Knightmare game is a love letter and an ad for their other work. (The author did a 25th anniversary of Knightmare documentary on YouTube, so he’s clearly a fan.)
