American Gladiators launches on Prime today

By | April 17, 2026

I expect it will attract opinions, so I thought I’d give it a post if people want to talk about it. Or not as the case may be.

Edit: except for viewers in the UK where it is still ‘coming soon’ apparently.

Edit Edit: Now removed completely from Amazon UK. Did they not realise there would be a territory restriction or something?

Edit Edit Edit: Diggers on the Discord have found out it is a legal licensing issue, the official press page now says “Worldwide (excluding UK)” – I wonder if the BBC are going to put them on BBC3/iPlayer eventually. Also sounds like Prime viewers in the US can now watch the first two series of our rebooted series, so I can’t wait to find out what they make of Bradley and Barney Walsh.

Although despite apparently launching internationally today, it’s still showing as ‘coming soon’ for me this afternoon.

Apparently eps are three events and an Eliminator which probably tells you everything right there.

Congratulations on being the ONLY site who I think has actually updated their article and stated it isn’t available in the UK! WELL DONE BRIG.

I have zero insider information. I did see someone wonder whether the swearing in the US version might be an issue in the UK, and it’s due a compliance edit before it’ll be made available? No idea. But it’s fairly pathetic that a) whatever rights problem seemed to be a surprise to Amazon, and b) they haven’t actually acknowledged the issue in any way beyond withdrawing the page in the UK.

Cheers John! I can’t imagine swearing being that much of an issue on a streaming platform, I can’t imagine it being massively excessive anyway (but I haven’t watched yet).

The other thing that feels a bit sad is that it looks like they’ve taken down the 90s and 2000s American Gladiators as well, which feels a bit like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
