Amateur Adventure Hour

By | July 4, 2011

Yeah, you all thought I wasn’t going to return to this didn’t you? Well you were wrong. AND HOW! This week something I found whilst looking for something else: Orbidome, some machinma created through Halo 3:

It’s not always easy to follow, although the 3D Maze and remote control football games are probably the best ones. Machinma’s fun, although we prefer real life stuff, obviously.

I reckon the problem with Halo 3 things is that people online aren’t particularly good team players.

Also argh, I can do ideas and graphics and music and all that post-production stuff, but I don’t have the people willing to do a REAL show with.

Thoroughly enjoyed it; it was clear that there had been a huge amount of effort and a huge amount of love invested in this. I have a gut feeling that it would have gone much more smoothly if the contestants really knew the The Crystal Maze form, and knew basic constructs like submitting to the authority of the host; there’s always a lot of “what do we have to do?” frustration, inherent as part of the format, but I am delighted to see there is a second episode and hopefully things will have smartened up, commensurate to the amount of work that has gone on behind the scenes. Not sure I want to watch two in a row, but I do hope that this has a future.

As much as contestant calls for real world game shows have worked really well at UKGS and the Bar, I bet contestant calls for AAH productions would work really well too…
