Yes, new computer means the return of that picture of Elton John for a round up of your competitive entertainment tonight:

  • Epic Win – 5:25, BBC1.
  • Total Wipeout Celeb Special – 6:10, BBC1 – of note because it’s the first one on the new series five course, but the 11th to be filmed.
  • All-Star Family Fortunes – 7:00, ITV1 – The unlikely match-up of Pauline Quirke vs Jo Whiley.
  • The X Factor – 8:00, ITV1.
  • The National Lottery Secret Fortune – 8:00, BBC1.

Have a good evening!

Don’t forget the Fool Us finale is tomorrow evening, 9pm. Featuring some folk called the Daniels family…

Totsl Wipeout seems really boring this evening.

Still, I loved the man making a stirfry using only a chainsaw on Epic Win, so I suppose it balances out.

And rather than update the Wipeout Zone, they’ve just added some turntables in lieu of a rope swing. Disappointing.

You mean there are times when it isn’t boring!? I stopped watching after series 1. Still no idea why I even watched that all the way through.

Even been getting fed up of proper Wipeout this year, thanks to their obsession with Smackwalls and repetitive rounds, but it’s the Johns and Jill that bring me back every episode. 29 episodes in. Hoping they can sort out the problems for next year.

I don’t generally mind the British way of doing things really – it has a different attitude to the US version and that’s something I can live with but my God, the qualifier felt like it was taking a million years this evening.

I stopped watching the US one a long time ago, it feels like it’s just going through the motions in a way the first season of it didn’t.

Was it me – or did Epic Win feel ‘tighter’ last night?

It didn’t seem to drag as much, the money round (the pace killer last week) only seemed to outstay it’s welcome just the once and the laugh counter was slightly higher than last week – with Alexander making a couple of bone dry saracist comments helped the whole thing along.

Much improved than last week – and I now think it’s fell into the ‘low rent You Bet tribute act’ hole rather well.

Still out on the exact role of Joe though…

That’s interesting, I thought the editing was a bit all over the place last night.

Doesn’t seem to be catching on with the viewing public which I think is a shame, really.

Think I’m with Mart on this one on balance. The Travolta challenge was a bit raggy but the others were fairly tight. The money game is out of place and Micky Flanagan acting like a tight-bum doesn’t add to the proceedings.

I don’t think Total Wipeout suffered as much as I’d feared when I posted last week but yes the Qualifier drags horribly when they try and fill the same amount of time as a standard episode with half as many people.
As I say it didn’t make too much of an impact showing it out of order but it still felt a bit awkward and a bit odd when anything new was shown and we were assumed to have seen it before.
As for the silly skipping rule in the Wipeout Zone, was it just me or did Gail not even have to climb up to the turntable she face-planted – she just climbed up to the last one didn’t she?

Why Argentina haven’t updated the Zone I don’t know – hopefully it will be in time for Winter Wipeout. Total Wipeout have the gutbusters in their Facebook game, so hopefully they will.

Double Cross though – no water, no foam, and no unstable table tipping at the end = no fun! And now they’ve finally used all three turntables they’ve slowed them down so far they’re practically in reverse.

With the previous two courses they were fairly seemless replicas of the original (though Washout somehow ruined them) – but this course really looks like it was done on the cheap.

      Mmm, very interesting thanks. However:

“The man behind The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent has yet to experience a flop…”

Looking forward to that next series of Cupid, Simon!
