The world’s HOTTEST Exit Games blog Exit Games UK has an interesting interview with the people behind the Cyberdrome Crystal Maze attractions which is worth a look. I had no idea they spread to Dubai and Japan, and sadly never got the chance to play in a UK one when it was open.
Some other quick reminders: Fort Boyard is on on Friday night at 7:55ish UK this week and next because of rugby (I believe there’s a new riddle-based game featured tomorrow so look out for that) and on Saturday night we’re having a Smash Bros tournament, details on the right sidebar there and more details here).
Edit: The Edge filming its surprise second series 1-3rd September at Elstree, tickets BBC. There only appear to be nine recording sessions, which means they’re recording very fast or there might be more dates coming later. Or there are just going to be nine episodes.
160,000 (2.7%) for smash hit Fifteen To One yesterday. The Tipping Point repeat at 3pm got 0.96m (17.0%). That itself looks a bit low but I guess they only started them on Monday so it’ll build and the share is solid.
Meanwhile at 5pm it was 2.81m (26.8%) for Pointless vs 1.04m (10.5%) for Freeze Out. Figures include +1 and are from Hassaan on Gallifrey Base.
It’s low for TP, but it’s at 3pm so not that surprising. Thanks!
Just read on the DS thread that Countdown did 0.27m before it, so there we are.
French Collection looking like a monster at 0.35m, which is about twice what Benchmark was getting…
I once did the Pembroke CC2000 crystal maze cyberdrome in Pembroke Wales when I was at University and a thoroughly enjoyable experience it was too.
From what I remember, our team (of four called “The Maze marauders”) did very well in the Aztec and Medieval areas (not really zones) and I was definitely the mental one (by which i mean the team elected to give me the mental challenges).
Once inside the “maze” the attention to detail was very noticeable and although not an exact replication on the actual Maze, it was well done enough to give a fully submersive experience. And this was more like a maze than the actual show full of lots of hidden routes and passages, indeed we got lost more than once on our way from game to game.
In the end once we got to the frantic crystal dome end game, we came out winners and got a certificate to prove we cracked the crystal maze.
Am interested to see how much effort goes into the reboot, especially with all the Indiegogo money the fans have given it.
I’ll be going at the start of the new year, hopefully.
Incidentally there are effectively two full eps of 1978 Krypton Factor on Youtube under ITV Classics, but this is not obvious if you look on their page. If you search for ‘Krypton Factor ITV Classics’ there are two examples for each of the rounds.
The intelligence test apparently has a two minute time limit, although I wonder if that’s a ‘for telly’ time limit and it went on a bit longer.
Ooh this is interesting, the final GK round looks like it has an elastic time limit, missing vowels style.
