Come on Gang, let’s get’s get The £125,000 Question bed to Number One!

By | November 17, 2020

Out Friday! Although only with fourteen tracks, so presumably they’re rolling the beds and DER-DER-DER-DER-DER-DER-DER-DER-DER-DERRRR bits into one track. Includes TWO unreleased theme mixes of the theme tune, perhaps one will be the one from the original soundtrack release with Chris Tarrant but replaced with quotes by Jeremy Clarkson, who knows.

In other news it’s Schlag den Star on Saturday night! Do come and join us for that.

Edit: Crikey, is that it? The original fully-featured one is going for £75 on eBay right now, if you’d prefer.

Show Discussion: Winning Combination

By | November 16, 2020

Weekdays, 3pm,
ITV

Omid Djalili challenges nine people to find a winning combination that could win up to £9,876.

Nine contestants are each randomly assigned a digit from 1-9 and must fight to get through to the final where the prizemoney is made up of those digits, but to win the money they each have to correctly answer the same amount of questions as their number, so £9,876 would probably be really hard but £9,321 would be tactically more astute for similar money, especially split four ways.

Omid should be good, but it sounds like an awful lot of work for quite small reward which is a bit offputting. We’ll see. Let us know what you think in the comments!

It seems sad to relegate Des O’ Connor to a “Things” post, but there we are.

By | November 15, 2020
  • Sad news about the passing of singer, comic and entertainer Des O’ Connor, in the gameshow world he most famously hosted Take Your Pick and Countdown, we also remember him for hosting mid-90s talent contest with a big jackpot Pot of Gold.
  • I’m a Celeb starts its new run shooting in Wales tonight, where the weather the last few days has been, well, extremely wet. Now I think they’ve got some of the best creatives in the business so I would hope that they’ve predicted and figured everything out – I’m extremely excited to see how it plays out in a castle setting, but the celebs are only going to let themselves get so miserable before walking out surely.
  • Winning Combination starts on ITV tomorrow at 3pm, we’ll have a Show Discussion post going up tomorrow morning.
  • The Wheel looks like it has quite the set.

Bother’s Bar Plays Badly: Family Feud

By | November 13, 2020

According to the records, this is the 25th BBPB! Incredible.

This came out yesterday on most of the major digital platforms, but is it any good? It features 1,500 questions and everyone’s favourite TV host Lucky McCoy!

You can play at home in pass the pad capacity, or online against other players, or set up a stream where people can answer in the chat.

It’s published by Ubisoft of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune fame, but it’s been developed by Snap Finger Click of It’s Quiz Time fame. They’ve not bothered localising the title so good luck in finding it unless you know what you’re looking for. And do you know what? It’s OK?

A 1%-er

By | November 11, 2020

The 1% Club has been commissioned for ITV and I thought this had been knocking about for a while, but a quick search suggests that they filmed a pilot for it at Salford only back at the end of January so not that long in the grand scheme of things. It’s Everybody’s Equal with brainteasers and Lee Mack, basically, but apparently with a convoluted money system only 1% of people will understand that basically boils down to “£100k is split amongst everyone who survives and gets the hardest question right”, unless I’m missing some nuance.

In other news, they’ve changed the logo for Blankety Blank on Applause Store so it looks like 80s Blind Date, and there’s no mention of Bradley Walsh. Have the plans changed?
