The Poll is now closed.

Do not vote now, they will not be counted and you may still be charged.

There may well be some surprises in store, especially in the Golden Five on the basis of totting up the first week’s votes last weekend. We shall see.

Join us on Tuesday at 9pm for THE RESULTS.

Amazing scenes in the first Mastermind semi-final last night.

Not one pass in the entire show, the first time that had happened for ages – and a three-way tie at the end, the first time that had happened *ever*. (Plus the other two contestants were just one and three points behind respectively.)

Isabelle Heward, the only female contestant, was one of the three tied for first. She had only been joint fourth after the specialist rounds, but had then produced a strong GK round. The other two, Steve Lacey and Rob Hemming, had been first and second respectively after the specialist rounds – four and two points ahead of Isabelle – but had then struggled during GK.

After Steve missed one of his tie-break questions, Isabelle correctly answered all five of hers. Rob then got four of his – but, for the other one, said Slaughterhouse Nine instead of Slaughterhouse Five.

Isabelle thus pulled off an unexpected victory by the narrowest of narrow margins. Who said Mastermind was boring?

Alright, have I got this right Cele?

The minimondo element has been significantly overhauled – six people sit in a pyramid beside the champion’s chair, each seat with it’s own screen with a category. However it looks like the top seat is reserved for one of the regular characters, the other five seem to be randoms. When a tune plays the contestant picks one of them to come down and ask their question.

There’s a new Bonas who’s much more in your face than the previous one, and a new judge in Dr Christian, replacing Marco Salvati (who is still writing for it).

Other new elements yet to be revealed.

I may be wrong, but it seems they removed the time limit to answer during the final round. A move that may seem favorable to the player but is really making them losing lots of time instead (unless they can go to Q20/21 fairly quickly where that may make a huge difference)

They changed this last series – now the freeze ray kicks in at 30k and there’s no time limit to respond to each question except in sudden death where they have ten seconds.

Right, it’s the same people in the pyramid as yesterday but with the exception of Miss Claudia they don’t seem to be characters as such. So, not sure.

La Bonas Sorte replaces the Good Fairy but seems to do the same thing – one question to augment your score to €300,000.

You are correct, contestants now can choose who will read them the question. This feature is called the Parlour.

The tune you hear when the Parlour is called into action is the theme of the Maurizio Costanzo Show, Italy’s longest-running talk show.

I think this is a bit of a shame, it makes the show a bit less unpredictable and weird.

On the other hand it means *far less* writing, especially as a seven day operation, and a much bigger emphasis on throwaway question ideas and ad libbing.

Luca doesn’t seem to have much to do, although it’s nice they bring him down to co-host the second half.

Some french news : TF1 is that much desperate finding a remplacement to Money Drop for its 7pm timeslot that they’re going to go for a 40-episode run of The Wall before the end of the season. Without any pilot made. Thats a ball-sy move.
