It’s hot!

By | July 16, 2013

Well I wasn’t expecting Bother’s Bar Summer week to be quite as difficult as its turning out, basically none of the shows and title sequences I’ve tried to find appear to be on Youtube so the rest of the week is going to be Prickly Heat with Julian Clary and Davina McCall.

TODAY THOUGH: the show that combined Richard Fairbrass and algebra years before Takeshi Kitano’s University of Practical Mathematics, set in the Jordanian desert, it’s The Desert Forges!

Youtube’s got some episodes of the German version (same title) if you’re interested.

Meanwhile Danny From The Script From The Voice has joined Jessie J in leaving The Voice. Look out for Sport Relief Does The Voice next year.

It’s the Summer!

As nobody can be bothered to do anything interesting at the moment because it’s so hot, for a while let’s take a look at our favourite Summer-y shows!

Amazing 90s Italo-quiz Luna Park had a Summer version. The titles would be best described as “not especially subtle”:

IN OTHER NEWS Catchphrase are looking for contestants, details via SRO (where you’ll also find a link to Rufus Hound panel show pilot Name That Toon), Keith Lemon’s Through the Keyhole films next week.

Also Reality Blurred has a super-interesting interview with the producer of Whodunnit?

The biggest problem with Hollywood Game Night…

…is this:

Who thought THAT was a good design choice?

Other than that the show is basically good fun – imagine Win Lose or Draw but with good celebs (Martin Short! Lisa Kudrow! Matthew Perry! Alyson Hannigan! Kristen Bell! Jin from Lost!) who have had a bit to drink, and at least one who needs to be centre of attention and all playing parlour games. The last round is worth twice as much as all the rest put together, but you know how these things are. Jane Lynch holds it together well.

Actually I say “good celebs”, I’ve seen the line up for the next two episodes and I haven’t heard of any of them. So.

Take on the Twisters

The Julia Bradbury MULTIPLE eggtimer quiz begins on ITV on Monday 22nd in the 17:00 slot, so all of you wishing The Chase gets a break get your wish. Last year in the Summer afternoon Chase slot they tried out Tipping Point which turned out to be a triumph, so we’ll see if Julia Bradbury can overcome the “URGH, this isn’t THE CHASE” audience as deftly. I hope the show is more appealing than the title.

8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown is getting a six week run, because it is more popular than both Countdown and 8 Out of 10 Cats, presumably. There was a bit more to 8/10C’n (I’m not bloody writing the whole thing again) than rude anagrams, so we’ll see if they have enough jokes to sustain a six week go.

AND FINALLY! BSOP champ and Only Connect contributor Ben Justice has posed with his trophy for the BSOP Hall of Fame. Nice shirt, Ben!
