It’s the Summer!

By | July 15, 2013

As nobody can be bothered to do anything interesting at the moment because it’s so hot, for a while let’s take a look at our favourite Summer-y shows!

Amazing 90s Italo-quiz Luna Park had a Summer version. The titles would be best described as “not especially subtle”:

IN OTHER NEWS Catchphrase are looking for contestants, details via SRO (where you’ll also find a link to Rufus Hound panel show pilot Name That Toon), Keith Lemon’s Through the Keyhole films next week.

Also Reality Blurred has a super-interesting interview with the producer of Whodunnit?

There are plans in Germany for a special edition of “Who wants to be a Millionaire?” called “Zockeredition” (“gamblers’ edition”). You can win up to 2 million euros, but you have to get the first 10 question right without using any lifelines at all. It will probably air in autumn this year on RTL.

Not entirely sure I like the sound of it – have you had many million winners in the last few years?

According to Wiki. They’ve had ten winners (including two celebrity winners) since the show began in 1999. Last €1 Million was earlier this year in March, before that November 2010.

It still amazes me how the German version continues to be popular after nearly 14 years on air with very little tweaks.

Unfortunately the show’s last ratings weren’t as great as the ones a year ago. This season it didn’t win the 14-49 year old category in its time slot very often and the overall ratings weren’t really impressing as well. I hope they don’t start to experiment too much with the format as I do like it the way it is and I’m not a big fan of “Millionaire Hotseat” for example. Hopefully this is their only experiment!

Showing the state of sleep deprivation I’ve been in for the past couple of days: I got the impression that the Killer didn’t know they were the killer, not that they didn’t know how the killings happened.

Which after the third and fourth read-throughs, I have to say that’s pretty damn smart. Why worry about the killer keeping their poker face when you could just not tell them and make them figure it out along with the legit competitors?

A friend was guessing that this was going to turn out like where the killer ends up as one of the victims, but faking his or her fake death, like an “Almost Ten Little Indians.” I’m tempted to agree with them.
