It’s hot!

By | July 16, 2013

Well I wasn’t expecting Bother’s Bar Summer week to be quite as difficult as its turning out, basically none of the shows and title sequences I’ve tried to find appear to be on Youtube so the rest of the week is going to be Prickly Heat with Julian Clary and Davina McCall.

TODAY THOUGH: the show that combined Richard Fairbrass and algebra years before Takeshi Kitano’s University of Practical Mathematics, set in the Jordanian desert, it’s The Desert Forges!

Youtube’s got some episodes of the German version (same title) if you’re interested.

Meanwhile Danny From The Script From The Voice has joined Jessie J in leaving The Voice. Look out for Sport Relief Does The Voice next year.

Oooh, nice find of Ali Baba, Brig !(twitter) It was a short-lived game on TF1 during summer ’97.

I’m gonna explain the rules since you may want them – One main contestant plays as Ali Baba, along with four potential treasure hunters for the endgame. Two of them are Liars, know all the answers to the questions asked throughout the game, symbolised by a eye tatoo on their right hand, hidden by a glove. Various games are played in order to win bracelets and eliminate potential Liars from the game.

Here, the first one is basically To Tell The Truth, one story is told, which only happened to the “real” player. Ali must find who’s real, the selected player earns one bracelet. The second game, played by the male contestants is a skill game – catch disks to earn chances answering a general knowledge question. Answering it right earns that player one bracelet, then Ali must eliminate one of the two male contestants.

Endgame – 7:00 clock starts then Ali use his own bracelet, plus any from the remaining contestants to light up parts of a common expression, which is today’s keyphrase to open the cave. If he’s stuck, he can buy extra bracelets to the treasure keeper at the cost of one treasure stolen at random times during the quiz segment. After the cave is open , the two contestants play questionnaires on a same thematic, whoever has the lead at his time can open five chests à la Bin or Win (only keeping one) , to add from 200 to 20,000F (around 2000£) to its personal treasure, starting at 10,000F for both of them. After time runs out, Ali must eliminate one of the two remaining contestants. The survivor then show his status by pulling a lever – if he was legit, they split the money, if not, the treasure is lost and the Liar takes home 5,000F. Voila !

Ahhh, thanks for that, I was scanning through it on a work computer in some downtime and was wondering what on earth was going on.
