Meanwhile, tickets for 2010’s most averagely competent new show, The Million Pound Drop, returns to our screens on the 25th October despite @the1mpounddrop trying to suggest the new start date is all secretive and things. You can get audience tickets from Applause Store, where interestingly it looks like there’s some sort of dress rehearsal happening on Thursday 21st. Also the doors are opening at eight, so is it going to be on earlier (9pm, say?) or is it not going to be as live as it looks, or as it’s Endemol is going to be an outrageously tedious recording experience?

Sorry, this is a bit late this evening:

  • The Cube (7pm, ITV1, 7pm)
  • The X Factor (Tonight 8pm and Saturday basically all night, ITV1): The great thing about The X Factor on Saturday is that now it’s got about 46 different acts singing each week, it’s like having a mini-Eurovision Song Contest every weekend. Especially as one one contestant is Italian (yes I know Italy haven’t participated for a while, smartarse) and Wagner sounds as though he should be German and yet isn’t (he’s from Brazil). Also, how many of last night’s perfomances will make the OFFICIAL Top 40, now you can download them on iTunes? Also it’s a shame wildcard acts weren’t picked from other categories than the judge’s own, I think that would have been more fun.
  • Only Connect (8:30pm, Monday, BBC4): Mensans vs Bloggers, it says here.
  • The Apprentice (9pm, Wednesday, BBC1): “Everything I touch turns to sold!”. I’m currently enjoying Alan Sugar’s new book.
  • The Challenge: Cutthroat (Wednesday, MTV US): Last week had tear gas and tantrums, what’s in store this week?
  • Mission 2110 (5:45pm, Thursday, CBBC): Well I thought the first series was a bit disappointing, and I suspect the second series will have been filmed back to back, so I’m not expecting great things here. It’s a shame there’s been no Raven special series this year.

That’s what I think is interesting this week, what say you?

The Cube music isn’t available commercially I’m afraid and you are the first person who has enquired to be honest. We normally release commercially if we get inundated with enquiries. So there you go, I endorse this campaign.

In the meantime, unfortunately I’ve yet to find The Challenge: Cutthroat availiable for download anywhere, but don’t let that stop you. If you’re in the UK download something like Ultrasurf and then go and watch it on the mtv.com site.

The rules of The Challenge change from season to season, this season thirty contestants (as is usual for The Challenge, most of them are previous challengers, or have participated in The Real World or the now defunct Road Rules) are split into three teams. They compete in challenges and live in a big house in Prague, winning a challenge wins $20k for the team’s bank and a lovely prize. Losing a challenge means your team must secretly vote to send one male and female into ‘The Gulag’, a tough (usually) physical competition where one male and one female will be sent home with no money. Anyone left after the ninth week of challenges splits their team’s bank between them, and the survivors compete in one more mega-team-challenge for an additional $120k prize.

Our opening episode had a drunken fight and nudity within the first twenty minutes, a really hard challenge involving cracking codes in rooms filled with tear gas followed by putting together a large 3-D puzzle, followed by a Gulag challenge which was basically pretty hardcore wrestling. Worth a watch.
