It’s Schlag Saturday! 24/3/18 #bbsdh

Saturday 24th March, 7:15pm UK/8:15pm local
Pro 7 and naughty internet streaming

Tweet us! #bbsdh

It’s been four months since the last one but Schlag den Henssler is back, and a plucky contestant will be attempting to win a rollover jackpot of €1m by besting celebrity chef Stefan Henssler over 15 mystery events.

As ever, we’ll be here attempting to provide commentary, gossip and games, and we’re likely to be a while so do feel free to dip in and out.

Watching the live Pro 7 stream might be a bit more difficult than it has been previously.

Our commentary stream link will appear here – live from 7:15 to around midnight.
This stream is commentary only. You will need to have a naughty stream running at the same time for the visuals. We are likely to be about 15-20 seconds behind the visual stream (and about a full minute behind if you’re watching an actual satellite feed), sorry.

At time of writing, there is a live decent quality low-fuss live stream. We cannot guarantee it will always be working.

The Opera VPN has apparently stopped being useful for SdH. Bother’s Bar recommends shelling out for a proper VPN service. Bother’s Bar uses Tunnelbear, other VPN services are available. Matt Clemson recommends Windscribe as a free alternative. We cannot take responsibility for anything you do to your system, so be careful and use some common sense.

To watch it would be useful to sign up for ProSieben’s catch-up service – it’s pretty simple to work out, don’t click the box if you don’t want e-mail messages. You will need to put in a proper e-mail because it will send you a confirmation.

If anyone knows of any relatively safe livestreams, do feel free to share.

A Wild De Mol Appears

By | March 21, 2018

Belgian Mole starts on Saturday, this year we’re going to try and follow it if the subs are quick enough, head on over to the De Mol page.

If you liked UK Mole but don’t get on with the Dutch travelogue style you should give Belgian Mole a chance as it’s much closer to the original style, and the challenges are usually fantastic.

Coverage of WIDM ’18 has been moved to the Specials Board.

Apropos of nothing: The Smartest Person At Bother’s Bar 2018 is being pushed back to Autumn for reasons too tedious to go into – I had the trophy ready and everything. Sorry.

Some Tuesday fun

By | March 20, 2018

Here’s some Tuesday fun, a contestant on Bother’s Bar favourite Avanti un Altro has stuck up a subtitled version of their appearance. It’s very entertaining, with some “interesting” questions on Sir Isaac Newton and some comedy Spanish accents:

It’s Schlag den Henssler on Saturday

By | March 19, 2018

Yes indeed, join us for another exciting edition of Schlag den Henssler where a contestant goes up against TV chef Stefan Henssler for a rollover jackpot of €1m. That starts at 7:15 UK time. We’re hearing the Opera VPN workaround is no longer working so we’ll try and find an alternative for you. No promises.

We’ll be here all evening probably so we understand if you want to join us late to see what happens on Saturday Night Takeaway this week…

In other news, SRO are suggesting they’re filming a pilot of First and Last with Lee Mack, 11th April at Pinewood. This is very interesting, it’s a format that’s been knocking around for ages, so much so that Justin Lee Collins filmed two pilots for it years and years ago. In it, 11 contestants are reduced to one in a series of games, but whoever finishes first and last each time is eliminated. IIRC, the finale had the final three people write a blank cheque for up to £50,000 and whoever had the middle amount got to keep it. No idea who this is for.

Sounds like Robot Wars is dead, again.

Genuinely a bit of a shame if true, the most recent series was very entertaining, correcting a lot of issues I thought the first two series had.

Edit: Yep.

Jim Bowen

By | March 14, 2018

You can’t have failed to notice that Jim Bowen, star of hit darts quiz Bullseye, has died. He was 80.

We don’t normally do tributes to the dead at Bother’s Bar – other people do them better. However, seeing as everyone else is going to do Bullseye, here’s a poor quality video of Jim pissing himself laughing at a poor quality escapologist act live on Sky Channel’s Sky Star Search with Keith Chegwin. The other judge is Rustie Lee.
