The Sunday Times

What exciting things do we have for you this Sunday, you’re probably asking yourself? Well I’ll tell you.

I’ve done a review of The Million Pound Drapp for iOS. The download is free for playing along with the TV, a £1.49 in-app purchase unlocks the play anytime element (and I note you can’t seem to play anytime with the online web version now). I’m going to continue referring to it as The Million Pound Drapp UNTIL YOU LIKE IT.

NEXT tonight is the Bother Season of Poker Closing Ceremony with The Shipping Forecast – a £3.30 speed rebuy (plus an optional add-on after half an hour) winner take all tournament. You only need to buy in once and could win loads, especially as I’ve got about £20 in my account I’m happy to blow if necessary. The fun starts at 8pm, and you will need to be a member of Brig’s Poker Club to play:

– If you don’t already have it, download the free PokerStars software from www.pokerstars.com
– Open the main poker lobby, then click on the Home Games tab
– Click the ‘Join a Poker Club’ button
– Enter my Club ID number: 466738
– Enter my Invitation Code: onlyconnect

Then look for the tourney in the Home Games tab. Ten minutes late registration is available but there’s no entry after that. I will need to approve entry to the club so don’t leave it to the last minute. Rebuys and add-ons are £3 each if you want them.

And finally, Alex Sutton pointed out that a recent Applause Store mail had a picture of the The All New Skillful Red or Black set, so to look at it let’s go over to Gamesmaster (click then click again for a slightly larger version):

Blimey, I hope they didn’t need to stand for the entire recording.

Tickety-tock!

By | June 14, 2012

Alright, half ten UK time MTV US’ The Phone updated its Facebook page cover photo. The show hasn’t been on for three years. Does this mean anything?

The Phone of course was a great show in its original Dutch and then Australian, then Justin Timberlake bought it for the US where they Americanized it i.e. removed any subtlety.

It would be a strange thing to suddenly revive a show after a long hiatus. Perhaps it’s just MTV going through all their Facebook properties and updating. Still though.

Don’t Blow the Inheritance

By | June 14, 2012

In more @tvscoops news, 12 Yard working on a show called Don’t Blow the Inheritance for ITV. Sounds like The Generation Game for high stakes quizzes – older generation build up a bank, younger team member has to win it. Let’s hope it does a bit better than Holding Out For a Hero.

Meanwhile here is a photo for The All New Skill Based Red or Black. I can’t quite picture how it’s going to look on television, although it looks like half will be voting for red and half black again. If you’ve been, feel free to tell us how it works (use a pseudonym if you like) – I’m not interested in the results.

Tipping Point

By | June 13, 2012

Friend of the Bar @tvscoops has suggested that ITV have a 20 episode order for a new daytime show called Tipping Point based on those 2p machines you get at arcades, penny falls. Interesting idea, does anyone know anything?

Edit: And Ben Sheperd’s hosting it.

Some advertising

By | June 11, 2012

Hello there everyone. Still nothing about Red or Black? Never mind.

I’ve been contacted by David from Ludometrics advertising their Quizball quiz app, and as they gave me a copy I’ll advertise it, it’s a quiz based around Euro 2012. It’s 69p, and “is arguably the best involvement Scotland will have in the tournament, I think, beating the fact we have a refereeing team and an Alan Hansen there.” If you don’t fancy spending your money, @ludometrics is offering a free iTunes download code everytime England or Ireland score a goal. You can make your own jokes I’m sure. I’ve not played it yet as the subject matter is of little interest to me, but I look forward to giving it a go soon and getting all the questions wrong. Edit: Playing on iPad, don’t seem to get sound, questions not massively exciting (to me which might be a problem in a quiz app, they’re a bit facty and dry) but the central idea is sound although maybe could be implemented a little better, you’re not allowed to lose a game even in the group stages.

Also THIS SUNDAY at 8pm, The Bother’s Bar Poker Season draws to a close with The Shipping Forecast – 6 handed tables, five minute levels, unlimited rebuys for half an hour (and an add-on), WINNER TAKES ALL. £3.30 to enter and rebuy. Join in, it will be fun. To play you must be a member of Bother’s Poker Club (free to join) – details on the BSOP page.
