Fort Boyard France back July 7th, by the sounds of it

Exciting!

In other news, Lost in TV is suggesting there’s a special recording of Millionaire? on Saturday 7th July, including new elements, presumably trialling things before the live days start on the Monday. Interesting! Thanks to @Buzzerblog for the tipoff.

July 7th a very exciting date, there.

Well I’m alright because I pay for a VPN, I don’t know if there’s another way round unfortunately.

(Fourth) “Duel” , new season on France 2.

New rules – still 10 chips , four answers and two players but every question in the main duel has a 20-second timer (making Accelerators kinda less valuable, strange decision). Winner go to bonus game for up to €50k.

New system for the bonus (i’m not 100% sure about the rules) : a money ladder (500-1K-2K-3K-6K-15K-50K) and three chips (after winning 1st Duel). A series of questions is asked (with a 7-sec time limit) , player can freeze his progression (a la Play your Cards Right) and end the game at any level after being told the question – be wrong without freezing and you lose everything.

After 2nd Duel won, bonus restarts (at the same level ?) with four chips , then with five after 3rd Duel – fourth Duel win is an auto 50K jackpot win and retire undefeated (player also retire undefeated if reaching the 50K level during bonus)

That progression system is quite more exciting to watch than the “play a single question and money depending of the number of answers you cover” system used before.

They did something similar in the recent Spanish version- 3 chips, 3 questions worth 5K-10K-50K.

Now then, either I’m being an idiot or the Million Pound Drop got away with a clanger this evening. Their question about which event happened in the last 50 years which had ‘Sun rising in the west’ as a wrong answer made no mention of the Northern Hemisphere whatsoever, so for half of the world the sun has risen in the west every single day! How hard can it be to write unambiguous questions when you know the stakes are that high?!

I can see why its confusing, but the sun still rises in the east even if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere. Upside down they may be, but N, E, W, S stay the same.

A secondary google suggests I’m really very wrong… Oops!

You were likely confusing it with water flow directions being reversed in the southern hemisphere.
