If you’re looking for action sports…

By | May 30, 2017

Ooh, an episode of Run the Gauntlet has turned up on Youtube hosted by Inspector George Gently himself, Martin Shaw.

As a child of about eight I loved this, as a 35 year-old I find the races a bit long-winded and it’s a bit irritating that it’s quite difficult to work out who’s on what team as the helmets might be different but the vehicles are largely identical. Martin Shaw is very much the thrillseeker but he sounds a bit bored commentating.

Has anyone ever seen a Meteor or a Supercat outside of Run the Gauntlet?

The music remains synth-tastic tremendous though.

In other news no date for the next Schlag den Star yet on Myspass.de. Is this a Sommerpause?

If they’ve been contracted to do six this year they’ve been burning through them somewhat.

Lots to like there! A couple of fun credits: Series Producer and co-devisor Julian Grant, and Andrew Norgate on the Event Co-Ordination Team. I still remembered most of the lyrics to that Dulux advert that was the first ad of the first break, too.

I wonder if this was ever broadcast outside the UK? These days I imagine it would be organised a bit like Splatalot, with national commentary teams and maybe national on-site interviewers but internationally shared footage.

I think this has come up before, and I think the answer was it was shown on cable in the US. If anyone can fill in knowledge please do.
