It’s Silent Schlag Saturday!

By | September 20, 2019

Hi ya! A quick reminder that there’s no Bother’s Bar commentary for the 21/9/19 episode as your commentary team are running round London solving puzzles and/or are on holiday. Normal service planned to resume next episode.

I was planning to at least have my headset handy and drop into the BB Discord channel. Dunno if anyone else was intending to follow suit?

Too bad you had to miss this one live- it’s been a pretty good show so far…

It’s interesting, because I don’t think it was a great match from a *gameplay* perspective, but it was excellent from a production standpoint with two charismatic players, some creative games and some interesting moments of live telly.

Hope you all had a nice day in LDN/on holiday yesterday.

Numbers: 1.10m (5.8%) / 0.64m (11.3%). In terms of overall and ‘the all important demo’ viewers, both are at all-time lows for Schlag den Star. But the shares are fine and that’s all that matters 😉

A couple of nice games – Ablenkung (one contestant has 30 seconds to remember a sentence whilst the other verbally distracts them. Contestant then has to recite the sentence word perfect within an additional 30 seconds to get the point) and Kurbelboot (a head to head race in kids paddle boats). Song Battle made a return too.

It was entertaining enough (it would be fair to say both players are a bit Marmite), but there was no real game play and the whole thing was rather one sided which spoiled it slightly. SPOILER – the result was a whitewash, finishing 62:4.

    Next one on 9th November.

I’d also mention the game – I don’t recall the name – where you had to park in three parking spots as quickly as possible; however, it’s not just parking, but when you’re in place you need to read and solve a sum visible in the parking camera each time, so parking off-centre makes it hard to read.

And *then* they add in an extra wrinkle on a later round where the second sum included “Answer 1” as a value…
