Interestingly, I read (and gave a small number of points to) Stakeout, assuming it was the 2008 CBBC show – But upon inspecting the spacing, I imagine it was probably the 2001 Challenge show (or maybe an amalgamation of both?) that got the nominations.

Highlights how poor the last decade has been – about 15 of the 20 are filler.

We can elaborate on our votes now, can’t we?

Mine featured two shows from the ’70s, seven from the ’80s, five from the ’90s, five from the 2000s and one from the 2010s. Of these, seventeen made it – the three that didn’t were Catchword (which *did* make Ben’s top 100), Number One and Grand Slam.

I’m not ashamed to admit that there were some tactics in my vote – Crystal Maze, Millionaire, Weakest Link, DOND, Only Connect, Pointless and The Chase, great as they all were/are, were *obviously* going to make it, hence me selecting two early-noughties Channel 4 one-series wonders (Grand Slam was discussed on here fairly recently, and Number One was a show the then 13-year-old me *really* liked – flaws and easy comparisons with Weakest Link and all – to the extent that I’d run the two miles from school in Hanwell to home in Ealing to catch Krish and his “very rare Number One questions that could change everything”).

My selection of The Vault was also tactical – though this show probably would have made it anyway, because even though its many flaws were never really sorted out and Off The Telly went so far as to call it “easily the worst light entertainment programme of 2004”, every time it’s mentioned on here the reaction seems to be quite favourable. (I also brought it up on the Clarkson Millionaire thread on TV Forum in early 2018, and the replies there were generally positive too.) Would it be fair to describe it as a “guilty pleasure”?

Like Des, I also voted tactically and it paid off because all the ‘obvious’ choices that I enjoy still made it into the 100.

I think the only shows on my list that didn’t make it were To Me, To You and Benchmark.

I prefaced my submission with “in alphabetical order” which I hope wasn’t accidentally counted as a vote for Alphabetical!

        Ah I remember this submission.

Basically as the votes were meant to be sorted favourite to 20th favourite with 20pts to 1pt being awarded, and you had stated they were in alphabetical order, they were given 10.5pts each instead as I didn’t know your preference, hope that was okay. (Its a bit late anyway!)

Whoops! I can only apologise for not following the instructions properly, in that case. I seem to have a habit of doing that. Narrowing it down to 20 was difficult enough without having to put them into some kind of order.

At least you’ve now set up the Google Form for the next round in such a way that it forces us into Eurovision-style voting.

I would have voted for Benchmark if I had the slightest thought somebody else other than me would have but didn’t want to waste a vote. If memory serves I gave that slot to Grand Slam which didn’t make it anyway.

My full 20 points went to Breakaway. I still think played in the 17:15 slot on BBC1 this would be a huge hit against The Chase.

I tended to stay away from shows I knew were going to place high such as Only Connect, Hive Minds, Millionaire, The Chase and give my big points to shows such as Breakaway, Impossible, Divided, The Vault, 1000 Heartbeats that could have done with some boosting.

Completely forgot about The Exit List that for sure would have been in my list.

I did, in fact, vote for Hive Minds, because I didn’t think it would be a definite shoo-in for the 100.

Hole In The Wall is pre 2010 I think?

One glaring omission for me in the 2010 and onwards is Five Gold Rings

I feel sorry for Matt Allwright, he is an excellent game/quiz show presenter but doesn’t seem to ever be snapped up for anything that may last more than a couple of series!

You are completely correct, totally my error!

      As a result of this, Hole In The Wall wouldn’t have made it, so with so many votes already in, my only real choice is to offer the following;

-Hole In The Wall votes are nullified, and Hole In The Wall doesn’t make it through.
-Whichever show finishes 8th in the 2010s will play off against what should have been the 20th 2010s show in a Twitter poll playoff to see which goes through to the final 40 – so the public can decide which they would prefer to go through.

Sorry, completely my error, hope this cleans it up enough for everyone. I think its worth doing this way as the show in question that would benefit has fans.

I very much enjoyed filling this in, but man it made me (or, at least, my taste in game shows) feel old.

It would be interesting to see how people rated the five decade categories against each other and to see if there’s a natural preference for older voters to prefer shows from older decades. I’m 44 and ordered them ’80s, ’90s, ’10s, ’00s, ’70s from best to worst, but it feels like that only really the intersection between my personal taste and that of the voting public has real strength of depth in the ’80s and ’90s. The ’00s in particular does not have strength in depth but its top two shows push it narrowly past the ’70s.

I’d be very curious to get perspectives from younger voters where the Bar generally holds some shows in high esteem that completed their run before voters started watching. For instance, consider Bob’s Full House, which I am somewhat shocked did not make the final hundred, but it’s in the stacked, stacked ’80s decade. Do younger voters have any opinion of it, or any interest in seeing it? I concluded a while ago that the only show that completed way before my time that I have interest in seeing more of is The Golden Shot… so it’s the only one I put in my top 20 here when it’s more like a top-50 show for me.

(There are plenty of other shows I really rate like Scavengers, Beat The Teacher, Crisis Control and Lost, but I’m not too surprised not to see them make the final ton in a way that I was surprised to see Bob’s Full House – or, for that matter, Race Around The World – squeezed out.)

Off topic. But it seems like Fort Boyard will be filming this year June 15th-26th.
The following was said “We are going to shoot it this summer! We work with production. Applicants will wear masks. We will use several boats instead of one to reach the fort. We have specially created confined games that allow us to respect barrier gestures and distance.”

Just a final note to say voting closes at 10pm tonight!

We have had a wonderful 74 sets of votes, very happy with that.

Because of the nature of the votes coming in this time, I am best counting them once they are all in, I am excited to count and see whats doing well!
