New season, new thrills

By | September 15, 2026

A lot to keep track of so here’s a post largely for my benefit as much as anyone else’s:

Physical 100 Italy started on Netflix last Friday, I’ve only had time to watch the first episode – the sets look amazing, although it looks like the games are heavily based on the first Korean series (although the first event is slightly different, even if it involves an endurance event with bars and not falling into a pool). The editing is slightly different, there’s an explanatory voiceover, a new ratings system to tell you what’s being tested and a €100,000 prize. First three eps are up, new episodes go up every Friday.

Physical 100 Mexico starts tomorrow (Wednesday) and looks to have incredible sets but also, going by the trailer, a new set of games. Presumably a similar release schedule.

This Saturday the new series of Win Win With The Postcode Lottery starts 7:25pm on ITV1 – may as well use the original Series Discussion post if you want to discuss it. Meanwhile the new Strictly Come Dancing starts 7:25 on BBC1 as a spoiler for ITV and that’s followed by Wisdom Of The Crowd which there will be a Show Discussion post for in due course.

Monday through Thursday next week sees Sky’s The Wargame on Sky One and NOW TV – it’s people who have already run the country doing Crisis Command: Could You Run The Country? based around a Russia attack. Thursday’s episode is followed by a live reunion, you can get tickets from SRO if you want.

22nd September is The Great British Bake Off and the thrid series of now Rob Beckett fronted Tempting Fortune.

23rd September is Wonka’s Golden Ticket on Netflix with Gene WAIdler. There will be a Show Discussion post nearer the time.

Phew! And that’s just the next week-ish. Celeb Traitors October 1st. Edit: Deal or No Deal (it’s not now) (it is but it’s repeats) AND Michael Sheen’s Richard Osman’s House of Games back Monday 28th September.

Unrelated but good: Nebula’s Jet Lag is in Japan, and is four episodes in on YouTube.
A race across Japan by train, with challenges! cards! curses! and YouTube’s Tom Scott!
    It’s quite good!

There is also a new Korean reality strategy shows called The Community Season 2: Invisible Hand. So far 4 episodes have been released with english subtitles. It has a really interesting format, very well thought out so far.

Mmm, I got an e-mail about this from Kocowa which is annoying as I’ve just unsubscribed now Bloody Game has finished.

Alright I’m watching the first episode now – it’s a really interesting set-up, economics 101. I’m intrigued to see if anything other than market trading happens though.

Yeah it is more complex than I first thought. It gets better each episode. To be honest, I think the show format is strong enough that I can see it being adapted by other country. Would be interesting to see the different economy mindset from western countries. Kocowa also added the english subtitle for season 1 today, though it has a very different format from season 2.

I’ve finished episode two and it’s gone from quite interesting to *really* interesting – it looks like one thing but really it’s something slightly different. Unfortunately my sub is about to run out so I might wait for the series to finish and then binge the rest – I don’t have the time for three hour episodes this weekend.

I think it is too involved to really work over here sadly – there are a lot of ideas to get across and keep track of, although I’d be fascinated to see someone try it.

I will write something about this in the next few days.
