I am quite pleased this is back, although the first ten minutes did feel like a tribute act to the original UK series (there’s now a pair of troubadours). Is there really any need to show nudity in the pre-titles? Blimey, time and place. Alan Carr is quite a good fit for the voiceover replacing Alan Cumming, although as a show certainly the opener lacked some of the subtlety (and it wasn’t a hugely subtle show originally) of the original, a bit less Carry On and a bit more full on.
This said, I did get into it quite quickly.
Here is a fun interview I did with one of the original producers Peter Davey about five years ago. It is produced by different people now, although it is the same production company.
As a reality show with a fair amount of play along at home value, I’ve put my initial guesses under the cut. Green for right, red for wrong!

This rated really badly last night, just under 150k. Admittedly, Celeb Big Brother was on, but still – I read the slot average was 700k

As for the ratings last night – C4 and E4 especially generally speaking do these kind of spoof reality shows rather well, but Monday 9pm doesn’t seem the right slot – and didn’t think much of Playing it Straight last night really. And Alan Carr completely over-narrated the whole thing.

Dean the Farrier is straight I know him. But the rest I am guessing I reckon Levi and Sven and the twins are 100% Gay!
Last time it was a 50/50 split. With the eliminated guys already a 50/50 split there is bound to be 3 straight & 3 gay guys left. That being the case I think it could be:
Ben – gay
Danny – gay
Sam -gay
Dean – straight
Levi – straight
Sven – straight
Though I could be wrong!

There’s no way Dean is straight. just no way. The twins are pretty obvious. I think both new guys are straight. Danny? I was fooled yes If you speak the truth. David was obvious too
I can’t lie, I’ve not really been feeling this series as much as I did the first one – I’ve watched the first two episodes and not yet caught up with the rest. I don’t mind Alan Carr generally, but it all feels *a bit much* this time round, not only with the commentary but also the choice of tasks – we get it, phallic stuff is amusing.
i love ben and sam even if they are gay are not i was soo shocked when ben left seenig sam upset almost made me cry i want sven to go home!!!!! Sam too win dont give a flying crap if hes gay The Twins are hot !!
