Notices 19th February 2012

By | February 19, 2012
  • TONIGHT! I’m playing a fun game of Fabricated Pointless (it’s like Pointless, but I’ve made all the results up) on Twitter at 7pm but at 7:30 it’s the first deepstack round of the Bother Series of Poker – double stack, double stake and double points. That starts at 7:30. SEVEN THIRTY. All welcome regardless of ability or league ambition, Buy-in is £10+1.
  • This week’s excitement: Anglicised Wie is De Mol? (Hopefully sometime on Monday), The Amazing Race starts tonight which I’m bored of but I know a lot of you lot like, Survivor and Accumulate! during the week and Pointless Celebrities begins a Saturday evening run on BBC1 at 6:15. It has a 55 minute running time, which for an average quiz would suggest a bit more tedious padding, but in Pointless it doesn’t seem quite so bad.

Watched the return of Affari Tuoi this evening. Still mad as ever. I always wondered why the ending of the show is always cut off. Once the final box is revealed there are no post game interview, no credits, no goodbye from Max. Simply fade to black and the adverts are rolled out. Why is this?

Also I’m interested how Pacco Matto actually works. I know CeletheRef has said the player could be replaced but I wonder if there is more to it. I noticed it was featured in the final boxes in live play.

the reason is very simple: Affari Tuoi airs at the same time of Striscia La Notizia on Canale5, and they don’t want viewers to switch channel until the very end.

I don’t know what’s in the Pacco Matto scrolls this season, but in the previous season they were:

“Raddoppia” (Double) the highest value still on the board is doubled

“Dimezza” (Halve) the highest value still on the board is halved

“Oggettino” (Little item) the player wins a little item

“Oggettone” (Big item) the player wins a large item

however the official rulebook says that the little and big items are just for show, and instead the player wins €50

“Non scegli tu” (You don’t choose) the player picks another contestant to choose the next box

“Cambio” (Swap) the player must change his box

“Vinci €5000” (Win €5000) the player wins €5000 in addition to his or her normal winnings

“Come non detto” (Forget that) nothing happens

if the player happens to win the Pacco Matto, then it’s worth €500

I may have stopped doing previews of University Challenge – but there is one thing I have to say as regards tonight’s episode:

    WOW.

Do they play the big win music after every single game the person clears? It’s getting really annoying…

Also: They didn’t quite figure out that the €150k bar on the money tree is supposed to be gold.

Also also: Oy, Wednesday’s episode sure was padded out, including that stupidly long promo at the end!

Also also also: Just realized that Raquel isn’t wearing the same clothing every day. This would appear to limit how much mixing and matching of contestants that the producers can do to fill up a show.

It’s also the last episode of The Exit List this evening. I hope it comes back for a second series. I’ll see about applying for it if it does.

I THOUGHT it was the last episode tonight, but their Twitter is saying there’s one more episode next week.

It doesn’t look particularly good for a second series. There used to be a reserve list entry for it on Applause Store, but recently that disappeared. Not that I’m taking Applause Store as my definite source of information on program renewal, but I’m just saying it’s not a good sign.
