Lucky Sexy Winners

Lucky Sexy Winners, Vic and Bob’s remimagining of Shooting Stars for Channel 4 films August 2nd at Television Centre.

Meanwhile the Reflex pilot filming at Mediacity on July 13th is being hosted by Jake Humphreys. I thought he was alright hosting the Break the Safe pilot, so, you know. We have someone going to that, excitingly, so look out for some sort of write-up.

Also something in a recent WordPress update seems to have borked the comment links on the left – clicking on them sometimes seems to take you to the post rather than the comment itself. I am aware, hopefully this will resolve itself soon.

This is completely unrelated, but excited me a heck of a lot.

From the I’ve been searching for this once every couple of years for about 10 or 12 years now department: TEKNO DRED & AD MAN ‘Continental’… not that I knew what the tune was called.

The amazing bit is that if you skip to – I think – about 57 seconds in, you only get the excerpt used for the theme tune to ahead-of-its-time millennial BBC 2 super-smash* Sub Zero. (Lookit, a clip!)

On top of that I think the whole thing is a bit of a bangin’ retro happy choon, but I may well be biased here.

Funnily enough, I was looking for a piece of music myself last night. Does anyone remember ‘One To Win’ on Channel 5? If not, it was basically a repackaged Going For Gold and it had a really awesome theme. I saw there was a clip of the opening titles on TVArk and remembered that I had an episode on a tape, so I watched the end credits to see who did the music. A quick Google search later and I found this page: http://www.richardbissill.com/media.html and the theme is there, the third one down on that list!

More as a note to myself than anything else, flv2mp3.com seemed to be working today when the usual YouTube-to-.mp3 converters weren’t. The theme shall make its way to my .mp3 player forthwith!

I was hoping for the central toy to be a bit more spectacular than that; as you’ve suggested before, Le Juste Prix‘s version of Plinko sets the standard. Still, not quite unsalvageable if the game has some interesting twists (e.g. why are some of the counters white and others black?)

Much as we riffed on Draw Something the game show, I can’t help suspecting that someone has been playing too much Coin Dozer (or Cookie Dozer, etc.) and we can only hope for some of the more imaginitive special coins (e.g. those which trigger a whole dumping of extra coins, giant coins, etc.) to make an appearance.

I actually really dislike the look of it, so bland – you wouldn’t play that in an arcade, would you? I hope it comes across a bit better in action on screen.

Thanks for posting, I’ll be watching this, but I can’t stick around and do commentary.

The good thing Schlag den Star will be on for the next four weeks. They always have a four show mini series and it’s taken them common sense to air it on Saturday nights (previously on Friday and Thursday night).

The 4 shows this series are on the 30th June, 14th July, 18th August and 1st of September

It looks like they’re also bringing back 17 Meter? (I say “bringing back” not knowing if they’ve been showing it all this time and I’ve just been oblivious to it.)

I noticed that. Seems strange as the last three series had them running on consecutive weeks on the run up to a Schlag den Raab.

As Art spotted, 17 Meter is back for another one off special next Saturday. It’s nice to see Pro7 airing new shows over the summer. Last year they decided to show nothing but films but in 2010 they had Solitary, Elton vs Simon: The Show and League of Balls.
