Tom Scott attempts to get 21 Questions Wrong

By | July 3, 2013

Well this is just incredible.

Good work Tom, good work Dan, and good work Michelle who put it all together – really tight edit, nice one.

If you want to be a contestant on the audio version (and hey! why not check out the Best Of!) then you should @danielpeake on Twitter.

Enjoy it before they get someone like Dave Berry or someone to ruin it on Channel 4.

I too would like to thank everyone who helped make it, Tom, Nick, Michelle, Matt, YouTube and others that I’ve probably forgotten.

It was great fun to film!

Are we hearing the Souterrain inondé theme from Fort Boyard in the background? 🙂

I made a version of this on the forum I’m a staff member on. Audio only, sadly, and I clearly don’t have the presenting chops that messer Peake has, but still. I know how bloody difficult it is to write question lists now.

Ha ha, good use of music!

Without revealing ALL THE SECRETS, here’s a quick insight into the 21QW question list writing process:

      * The entertainment is in progression and the thrill of the chase, so don’t leave all your hard questions until last. (Our questions are probably *slightly* tougher than they use on Italian television, but our contestants are *slightly* tougher as well.)

      * Questions should be knowable, if it might as well be “2 or 3, what number am I thinking of?” then we don’t use it. What are we, The Million Pound Drop?????????

      * We will never ask what is NOT something, the mental gymnastics would be unfair in what is already a tough game. That is not to say that some of the answers might not be occasionally surprising.

      * We try not to have too much on a given subject in any one list, we err towards modern culture but not at the exclusion of everything else.

Ah, I try to mix it up, but because the site’s basically very big on music games I pretty much have to include a couple of questions about them in there to help the people who aren’t that good.

Also yes, I still have the grand prize in my room. Still waiting to be claimed…

Dan you are a genius! And the video is so great, you should always do it as a video!

Thanks Nico! You’re too kind, I can just talk fairly quickly.

It was great fun, hopefully one day we’ll do it again!

Works quite nicely as a video, I have to say. Although… wasn’t Ermintrude the cow, and Florence just a human?

Yes, this has been pointed out. Didn’t jump out at me when I glanced across the questions, which is unfortunate.

Luckily it didn’t impact the gameplay. One day, we’ll write a set of questions with no mistake.

But then, what would we aspire to?
