It’s the Summer and we’re bored.

By | May 19, 2014

We’re still a month away from new Fort Boyard. The current daytime line-up has quickly proven lacklustre. There are no new shows to go and see.

What is there to get excited about in the near future that I’ve missed? This time last year at least there was Tipping Point: Lucky Stars coming up.

I expect it will be a different form of HOH, they’ve usually resisted aping the US one as a series theme, although I’m sure they’ll borrow elements as and when.

I know of two new daytime commissions yet to be announced, but scheduled to go into production any day now. Contestant calls are imminent I would imagine. I think they’ll both be absolutely awful, but I’ve been wrong before. Also, I’m told that Catchphrase is coming back, which is “exciting”.

Anyway, ratings below. Nothing shocking. Numbers hit by weather, shares largely stable. A bit low for OC.

    Pointless 3.28m (28.2%)
    Eggheads 1.21m (8.2%)
Come Dine With Me 0.86m (7.1%)
    The Link 0.83m (16.8%)
    Ejector Seat 0.83m (11.4%)
    Four in a Bed 0.72m (7.4%)
    Only Connect 0.59m (2.7%)
Deal or No Deal 0.49m (7.8%)
    Draw It 0.36m (4.7%)
    Countdown 0.35m (7.0%)

    Paul O’Grady 1.40m (12.7%)

All include HD and +1 where appropriate.

      Cheers Paul.

Obviously we are all about quiz-meets-lawn-bowls format The Edge: http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/shows/beonashow/the_edge

I can deal with Catchphrase coming back although I’ve barely watched it this time round after that hour long first episode. I’m aware Two Tribes is filming soon-ish although still don’t know if there’s going to be a live audience.

      That’s it really.

That is low for OC. Ratings have been fine so far this series but in May it usually gets around 75 so it’s a bit of the usual pace. It’ll perk up a bit when they add in time shifted views to the official figures.

Yes, it is becoming The Great Summer o’Meh. The best I’ve got for next week is Daphne Fowler’s retirement from Eggheads, BGT live shows (bring your own breakfast), and what might be a CBBC Superteams revival.

The Game Show Times may have a complete and utter blank for Thursday.

This year’s televised bit of the B** B*****r experiment starts on 5 or 6 June. New lab rats change their lives in unexpected and unpredictable ways, and the democratisation of fame continues. ‘m,

Er…. There’s a celebrity Catchphrase on 1 June (if Denise Van Outen qualifies) … er … Great Allotment Challenge has been “re-upped”… Channel 4’s repeating its 80s Evening in full on 6 June (so Celeb 15-1 for the 15th time and 8/10/Countdown again).

    No, I got nothin’.

They’ve filmed two more Celeb 15-1s, and there’s meant to be four of them. I wonder if one of the new ones will get an outing.

I’m planning to make a gameshow completely inside a DDR machine. But that’ll come in September if it happens.
