What with this, Tipping Point and The Edge, it’s clearly a golden age for arcade game quiz shows.

I can’t wait until someone turns Time Crisis into one.

I would have been shallow and suggested a Quiz DDR, but 1) someone already did it, and 2) Channel 5 had that The Beat Goes On which ended in a quasi-DDR bonus round.

Failing that, a straight quiz with the checkpoint system from Outrun 2 would be quite good.

I’ve often pondered if a quiz with an Outrun style time-extend format would fly as an endgame.

You’re not alone. I actually once wrote an idea for such an endgame once, but I lost it 🙁

I have seen quiz whack-a-mole pitched. Also the claw machines (which have sort of been done on Ant ‘n’ Dec) and Kentucky Derby machines. And pinball. And Giant Jenga in at least three different places. And one show which was set in a game show arcade and featured a whole variety of such devices.

The Magnificent Marble Machine was pretty much the granddaddy of them all.

Giant claw machine was the best bit of Vic and Bob’s Families At War. Giant Jenga was done on The Big Breakfast.

Quiz Bar Billiards will be the next big hit format.

I did suggest to The Banker a while back Deal should make a hilarious dig at Tipping Point by doing a Summer Arcade week.

        Didn’t happen AND NOW LOOK.

This will only be (vaguely) interesting if they dust off the old Dancing on Ice set and make it Human Air Hockey.

My mind is racing about the format – and therefore the end game for that ‘large cash prize’

The only way I can think of is a oversized air hockey table, contestant at one end, and a series of slots at the other end, with cash amounts written on the table before each one.

Answering correct questions in the end game either widens out the zones (and therefore a better chance of cash), and or gives you extra ‘pucks’ to fire at the slots. Or something like that.

Although, I don’t know where the ‘frozen’ bit in the title comes from though. Hopefully someone isn’t getting confused with Table Hockey and Ice Hockey..

Well, you know FOR SURE that I’m going to put myself forward for this! I’m a dab hand at air hockey, and I’m good at trivia so this is right up my street!
