Quizzy Monday changes tonight

By | November 2, 2015

In honour of the US putting their clocks back the weekend just gone, Only Connect has moved to 7:30 leading into University Challenge. Fans of people laughing slightly too hard at something slightly clever will be pleased to learn this is apparently to make way for the second series of The Quizeum on BBC4 at 8:30.

I do think that’s a bit rude.

Edit: Also quite interesting, the origins of The Almost Impossible Gameshow clarified.

Also: Series one of The Million Pound Drop starts tonight at 9pm on Challenge – really interested to see how it’s edited.

Edit edit: 182,000 for The Quizeum, the first series launched with 685k. Well done everybody!

I would be a hypocrite for complaining, since I suggested to the BBC Complaints department that the reason Hive Minds has done so poorly is because there was no lead in like Only Connect had (BBC2 aired an hour long program at eight on Tuesdays). What I want to know, the program currently at 8:30 on BBC2 is Simply Nigella, a seven part series. The Quizeum is an eight part series. I wonder what will air on BBC2 when the eighth episode of the Quizeum goes out on BBC4? I’d love to see how many viewers the show would get on BBC2.

Million Pound Drop edit quite interesting, there’s a couple of jarring cuts where they’d tell you how to play online (but does keep in how online players were doing) but everything else seems to be intact – clock and Live bug and everything.

First ep even slower than I remember.

Also! In a really awkward 65 minute slot, so you’d have to assume quite difficult to repeat earlier in the evening.

I happened to remember that OC was on early, discovered there was a 1:6 female:male ratio and switched it off again. UC the same, 1:8. That’s an easy won’t-watch decision for me. No, I’m not experiencing much of Monday quiz hour.

Last week’s UC at 6:3 was a relief. It felt so remarkable to have more women than men on the show, even if the difference still didn’t match the typical bias in the other direction.

Quizeum wins by default this week, 3:2, and it earned my attention. It was fun.
