Forecasting Sleet

By | February 2, 2017

Good news! Murder in Successville‘s coming back for a third series on BBC3, which we kind of knew already, but still. Guest sleuths this series include Richard Osman and Reggie Yates. Surprised Xander and Richard haven’t turned up as gangsters or something yet.

In other Reggie Yates news, the new series of Release the Hounds starts next Thursday.

Don’t panic if the Bar goes down for a bit on Friday night, I am upgrading my PHP, shouldn’t take too long hopefully.

In the meantime, don’t be surprised if your messages get flagged up as spam, for some reason. Fingers crossed it should all work properly again when I’m done.

It’s not game show but telly related and I like the idea behind it, so I wanted to share it here.
Jan Böhmermann (German comedian best known for his weekly late night/satire magazine Neo Magazin Royale and Erdogan’s lawsuit against his jokes) has a collaboration going to make every EU country second, while Trump makes his country the best with his slogan “America first!”. There is a dutch comedy programme with a video that went viral last week where they tried to become second by using Trump’s words form various appearances. Based on that several comedy shows across Europe have created similar videos themselves and will share them on itsgreat.eu to make every country second, just to make fun of Trump. None of the new videos is as good as the original one, but I like this europe-wide collaboration aspect and even the UK will join in, if the flags on that website are anything to go by.

News from German Millionaire: A contestant of monday’s episode failed at the 32,000€ question, thus only winning 500€. But the question was badly written and he gets a second chance. Instead of starting at 32,000€ again, he will have to go through the qualifying round as his answer was the most wrong according to !mpossible-rules (plus his Call-A-Friend gave him the answer that was deemed correct). If I understand correctly, he will start at 32,000€ once he has qualified.
I think it’s odd to admit the mistake in question writing, but saying he will have to qualify.
The question was “Which person is a eponym for one of the theee biggest German universities?” His answer was an entirely ficitonal person, the correct answer “Ludwig Maximilian” (Munich’s Uni) was given the names of Duke Ludwig and King Maximilian. So there was not just one person participated, so the question was odd for the answer wanted.

By “according to !mpossible-rules” I mean he chose the one university that is not among the biggest three out of the four multiple choice answers.

Yeah that seems quite odd. I don’t like it, yet I also don’t hate it. Hmm. Surprised that German Millionaire would allow such a question to go through really.

Think the novelty has well and truly warn off Release the Hounds now and an all-zeleb series will only hasten it’s decline I feel.
