Schlag den Raab – 14th April 2012

Schlag den Raab – 7:15pm UK time, Pro Sieben (and hopefully naughty internet streaming)

And if The Cube wasn’t exciting enough tonight Stefan Raab defends €1.5m live on German television. Also: Rebecca Ferguson off of The X Factor is one of the super special guests.

I wonder if they’ll play viewer favourite Tischdecke again?

Show discussion: The Cube Series 5

By | April 14, 2012

The Cube: 9:15pm ITV1

Philip and The Body return for a new five episode run (so by my reckoning there will be three Olympic editions being held on to until July) of The Cube. Will this be the series someone beats The Cube? I have literally no idea, I’m also being facetious.

Let’s Make a Deal

By | April 11, 2012

So. Recently I’ve found myself watching Let’s Make a Deal, both the new version with Wayne Brady (which is fun but lacks a certain something – I don’t think the hour slot helps it, although Brady and Magnum are a good team) and the old Monty Hall version on Youtube.

LMaD was of course the famous “will you pick door number one, door number two or door number three” show of legend, in the bit leading up to that various games are played which all revolve around choosing whether to gamble a sure thing for a thing which might be of greater or lesser value and the ways they dress this up are many and inventive. This could get quite old quite quickly but I just can’t stop watching Monty Hall, as the host of this he is amazing, he’s got the patter and is also just a little bit of a bastard albeit one with a glint in his eye.

This is part one of an episode. (I do advise watching this first as this builds up to something in part two)

This is my favourite part, particularly the final set of reveals:

And here is the final part.

There was a British version of sorts called Trick or Treat with Mike Smith and Julian Clary (known as The Joan Collins Fan Club back then). It was fun and did some inventive stuff of its own (you’ve won a car! Oh, it was damaged on the way to the studio!) and if you ever find any then let me know because I want to know if it’s like how I remember it.
