You’re in the Army now

By | January 18, 2019

For some reason I found myself pondering Combat with Emlyn Hughes this morning. But there’s seemingly no footage of that on Youtube so here’s the next best thing, an episode of One Man Army with Myke Hawke which was on US Discovery almost a decade ago and I thought was quite good, but that has seemingly been lost to the mists of time.

in other well time news, the new raven was pretty much axed, quoting the fource of raven: (a raven fan fourms)
James has said I can share the following news with you all, given that today is apparently the deadline day for CBBC communicating commissioning decisions.

“Unfortunately, Raven did not get recommissioned this time. It doesn’t mean it’s now finished for good, but sadly it won’t happen in 2019.

The glimmer of hope we have is that the powers that be are willing to pay for the set to be stored, and it’s certainly not cheap! Therefore we are still in with a chance for more Raven one day, and James reckons it’s a good chance based on the amount they are paying for the set to be stored. As soon as they decide to stop paying for the set, it looks like it’ll be curtains.

It’s a really surprising decision. While I’m obviously biased being a big Raven fan, it doesn’t seem to make much sense. It must have cost an awful lot to create everything from scratch, it outperformed the average for its slot, two episodes of Series 12 reached the top 10 most watched shows in that week, the series got nominated for two awards, AND CBBC Commissioning say they are looking for shows which involve participation! You’d think the main driving force behind the decision would be viewing figures, and it seems to have done well on that front.

It’s particularly gutting because Nick agreed with most of our points we would act on and agreed he’d try to fix them next time round… plus also the possibility that James would get a much bigger role!

However, paying a lot of money on storing the set is a positive… if they weren’t intending to bring it back at some point, that’s an awful lot of money down the drain. They should have recommissioned now and spent that on Way of the Warrior! :P”

Its probably about last commaders getting renewal, isint it? the thinking of skype for contestants(plus the amatuer-sish sets) make’s it cheaper, i reckon.

The circle, in a shock to absolutley no one on earth since the netflic deal, gets a second series.

In similar news, the word in the street is that The Button isn’t returning, largely due to high editing costs.

Just have them play for points, and give the winning family a big bronze bust of Alex’s he– oh, wait.

New gameshow casting call alert (I imagine that is the siren that every 90’s show used to have, especially if there was gunge involved)

BBC are casting for a new show called the hit list http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/takepart/hit_list

It’s basically name that tune by the sounds of it and it’s another Saturday night show attempt.

I think this is the same (or very similar) to the set they used around 2014. It looks very weird, I don’t know if I prefer it to the current UK attempt at a modern WWTBAM set.
