The Cube is looking for contestants

By | November 11, 2013

In the event of a nuclear war, the only two things that will survive are cockroaches and The Cube. If you’d like to apply, ITV have the details. Closing date for entrants is 29th November, they’re filming the week of 13th January.

Don’t be confused by:

To apply to be on the show, please download and complete the application form and return to the e-mail address below, stating your preferred audition location in the subject field (e.g LONDON)

There is a list of five locations on the application form, don’t put “my house, preferably” in the subject line. The audition cities are London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Newcastle, apparently showing a degree of hatred of the Scottish and Irish.

Good luck!

Meanwhile if this I’m a Celeb line up is true, it’s certainly not A-List but I don’t think it’s as bad as suggested. I’ve heard of them for a start.

Humourously I think there exist more Minecraft Á kod videos on YouTube than actual real life ones.

For value comparison, the 1.3 million forints they have going into the final is worth £3,669.35, and the 500,000 forint offer the guy got is worth £1,411.33 (using xe.com to convert). Since this is apparently show number 63, is it a daily show over there?

Watching that video made me remember just how good of a show Exit List was, and it’s still a shame it never got the viewers it deserved here. Damn Tuesday nights of doom.

Interesting that they only have 7 seconds per area instead of 10-maybe because the board is smaller? (not in number of areas but the size of them)

Also when you’re in the maze of the UK one it’s not easy to work out your path. On that one you can just turn around and it’s all there. Presumably they have a no turning round rule?

I’m off to see The Cube on Monday, any experience on how long a typical afternoon recording takes? (No doubt I should double the figure if they decide to use that bloody game with 1000 balls!)

Also how long is it from Kings Cross to the studio? I worked it out as about a 20 – 25 minute tube to Wembley Park and then about a 10 minute walk from there.

Yes that sounds about right, it’s literally go down the Wembley Park stairs and turn left, next to the McDonalds.

Sittings are at 2pm and 6pm, so I’d expect a three to three and a half hour recording. I’d also expect to see ‘games’ rather than ‘episodes’, they’ll just record as much as they can in the block, although I’m sure someone else can set the record straight on that.

Well I went today and enjoyed it.

-3 and a half hours really does fly by especially when things get a little tense

-Before I turned up I thought ‘They don’t tend to show the audience shots too much unless you’re sat behind the family and friends’ so no prizes for where I ended up sat! Apologies for your television set having to endure my ugly mug for an hour in advance.

-Schofield mentioned there were some new effects for the new series, something about seeing the game being ‘built’ in the Cube? A couple of new games too. It is VERY weird watching people in the Cube playing the games you see on telly without the background sound! Schofield was also very good at explaining the various pauses and things during the recording, and happily chatted to the audience during breaks. Very nice chap indeed.

-2 contestants in my sitting. I was quite surprised they didn’t shuffle the audience round between contestants in case they wanted them to appear on different episodes to each other?

-Very relaxed recording! My first show audience experience last year being MPD Live where the audience basically got stripped of all their belongings and held for seemingly forever in the holding area this recording was a 1 minute walk from outside the studio straight onto the set where they had kindly provided a biscuit and small bottle of juice for each audience member! They weren’t too fussy about phone use during breaks either, in fact Phil had a competition to see who could tweet him first!

-Don’t know what the warm up guy is called, he’s very funny though (Think he did Millionaire the other week and used to do The Weakest Link?). I was surprised at the number of hands that went up when he asked if there was anyone that had never actually seen the show on TV!!!
