It’s back!
Being pedantic, none of the Queen’s children are last in line to the throne. One of them is lowest in line of succession but not last.
That’s a very good point. The order of succession goes down hundreds of levels, way beyond all the Queen’s immediate ancestors.
Indeed, the line of succession includes everyone who is a direct descendant of Sophia, Elector of Hanover. That’s unless they (or an ancestor) was born out of wedlock, or if they are or have married a Roman Catholic. Sophia (1630-1714) was a grand-daughter of James VI/I, and mother of George I.
The passage of time means there are a lot of generations to consider. If I remember other people’s research correctly, there are about 5000 people eligible to succeed, including the Kings of Norway, Romania, and Yugoslavia, and the MP for Bridgewater.
And, this being a fact I expect to come up on QI some day (unless he dies before they get around to it), Prince Philip.
Does anyone know how many are playing along this evening?
At around 10:20 it was around 41,000+. Normal figures compared to previous shows.
Have to admit, the question writing on MPD was a lot less annoying tonight.

Good rating indeed, it dented Graham Norton a good million. Although Norton was trending worldwide on twitter compared to Brilliant Million Pound Awesome Drop trending in the UK.
As seen on Facebook tonight: “One fact on the live show was read out wrong tonight. The iPod shuffle was released in 2005 not 2008.”
