Kill Jester

By | March 12, 2011

Sorry, I know it’s two Youtube vids in a row, but I was alerted to this this morning and I think it will be of interest to the Punters. Limmy’s Show is a comedy sketch show on BBC Scotland which I’ve heard good things about, and one of the show’s recurring sketches is something called Adventure Call, a parody of the old late night TV quizzes and old computer adventure games. I think I might check out the show for real:

OK, go about 23’20” in on series 2, episode 4. They get better and better, and I haven’t been able to find this one on YouTube yet. The British Comedy Guide suggests there’s going to be another one in series 2, episode 6.

I am convinced it’s relevant that this is BBC Scotland; there’s more than a little Raven in Falconhoof’s character, and this is an affectionate tribute at worst.

If this were a real call-and-lose show, I would totally watch it and geek out over it. When I wasn’t playing…

    I gather I’m not alone that Let’s Dance for Comic Relief is a piece of crap – but thank heavens K***e Pr**e didn’t win… 😆 😉

Anyway, our Secret Fortune contestants tonight – brother and sister, eh? – get off to a shaky start as they struggle on an Only Fools and Horses question and end up selecting the lowest-valued answer… 😕

They do much better on question 2, though – Sardinia the largest Mediterranean island by quite a long way…

    The sister’s being a bit of a drama queen, isn’t she? 😆 😉

Question 3: they reject the top answer straight away, losing the £75k in the process, and select the second lowest-valued answer… 😕

Question 4: they lose the £100k by not believing that there are loads of Whites in the UK, but also lose the £100…

Have to agree with Kernick that this is a weird game at the mo. 😕

Question 5: once again they select the lowest-valued answer (who knew that Phantom of the Opera opened as late as 1986?), and now only three amounts remain on the right-hand side… 😕

Question 6: “Please say £3k, Nick!”

It’s £25k… but they are right that netball courts are the widest.

So £3k, £4k, £6k, £10k, £12k and £50k are taken through to the final round.

    A bit like having the £75k, £1k, £750 and three mid-size blues at 6-box on DOND… 😉

Myleene doing the Saturday night draws again. 🙁 🙁

And I bet Saiqa isn’t proving popular with the folks on the Digital Spy forums. Especially if she doesn’t know who Bryan McFadden is… 😆 😆 😆 😉

    Anyway, it’s a £3k vs £50k finish…

Mmmm… the final question is to do with the human body…

And they get it wrong – no doubt to the delight of the majority of DS users…

Aside from biologists, who knew that hair grows four times as quickly as nails?

I knew that hair grows at around an inch a month, so figured nails must be slower.

Am I the only one that thinks they could do with some smaller amounts on the left? Seems like you can play terribly and still go home with several grand.

Part of me thinks it could do with an eliminator at the start too.

Not a criticism but do we need a running commentary for Secret Fortune? Spoiler tags might help.

You mean you haven’t got round to watching it yet?

      😳 😳 😳 😳 😳

      I do apologise.

      Wish I wasn’t so careless sometimes…

I did watch it but not sure why it warrants a commentary (and I’m aware that in the past, the Bar was home to DOND commentaries but those were in a separate section). Are you going to do live UC commentaries now?

          I never considered doing those. 😆 😉

And I won’t. I couldn’t, anyway – when a UC match is on, I’m too engrossed in it to consider doing anything else. 😉

But as I said, I can be careless sometimes. And I know now that I was being careless when I did that commentary – and, for that matter, other similar commentaries… 😳

I fully understand that there was no need for them whatsoever, and so I promise that the one above will be the last. 😉 🙂

Good to see Ant & Dec more involved in the games this week, with the first game when they had to guess the same answer as their family. But they did the Bald game yet again which is lazy, they should be trying out new games every week. I’m still not a fan of the show though.

I want to like it but I just can’t be bothered with it. At the very least it needs more timed games of skill.
