Apply for 15 to 1

By | December 9, 2013

If you want to apply for the new 15 to 1, send an e-mail to 15to1apps@remedyproductions.tv, don’t hang about audition places are limited and happening throughout January, closing date January 17th. By the sounds of it they’re looking for characters but don’t let that put you off. They haven’t revealed what the prizes are – whether it be a piece of pot or hard cash, but I wouldn’t be expecting the sorts of money they were throwing around for the celeb episode. It sounds like 19 heats and a final with the top 15.

If you hadn’t gathered, 15 to 1 is returning with four celebrity specials fronted by Adam Hills and twenty civilian episodes with Sandi Toksvig. We discussed the earlier one-off here, and we have been discussing the show’s prospects now it’s definitely happening here.

MEANWHILE the new Fifty 50 Show is out. In the LANDMARK 45th episode, Lewis Murphy chats to two-thirds of Only Connect semi-finalists and crazy guys the Board Gamers. Likely to be a fun episode, check it out:

I thought about applying for Fifteen To One, but with The Chase being a possibility some time next year and with Countdown on the horizon as well after passing their audition, I don’t think I should be taking anything else on at the moment.

Thanks. It WILL be a great 2014 if I can finally get on The Chase, I’ve been waiting for my shot since back in Series 5. I auditioned in August 2011 and have been shortlisted ever since.

I wonder if Sandi Toksvig getting the civilian gig is a Channel 4 sop to her, because ‘1001 Things You Should Know’ has been decommissioned?

But, where will the daytime version air? Another show destined for the daytime ‘graveyard’ slot of 2pm?

Unless of course, they hold it back until the summer as DOND holiday cover..
..which would be ironic given the original was cancelled to make way for it.

Don’t quite get the point of doing a daytime run of just 20 episodes. Wasn’t expecting a three month commitment but 30-40 shows surely isn’t too much to ask so at least getting to the final is some kind of achievement. Not sure on Sandi B Toksvig as host either.

You’re assuming they’re formatting it like it was before- if they set it up like the celeb episode earlier this year, it’ll all be standalone episodes…

Though 15-to-1 is a much-loved format, I do fear what this says about the state of Channel 4 right now. They used to be the home of amazing left-field ideas. I can’t see them coming up with the next Treasure Hunt or Crystal Maze soon. I’d even settle for the next Trax Trix.

Perhaps if the current so called management had a budget we’d genuinely have a chance of a Crystal Maze revival – or at least 8 out of 10 Cats do the Crystal Maze!

Just read on DS that Show Me the Telly pulled 1.15m yesterday.

I don’t know what Pressure Pad was getting before it finished, but Escape to the Country in the same slot got 940k.

      Pointless 4,221,000 (28.0%)
Show Me the Telly 1,051,000 (10.4%)
Deal or No Deal 1,047,000 (10.4%)
      Perfection 774,000 (13.2%)
      Countdown 434,000 (6.3%)

Pressure Pad was down a bit at the beginning of last week with a different (and lower) lead-in, but both shows picked up over the week and Friday’s final Pressure Pad was around 870k if I recall correctly. Yesterday’s Escape to the Country got 827k. I reckon PP did enough to get at least a conversation about series 2. We’ll see.

C4 once again messing with the daytime schedule in January, despite the damage that did before. Countdown back to 2.40pm again, with Deal at 3.30pm. Four in a Bed is at 4.30pm and Come Dine with Me at 5pm.

Can’t see that doing any of those shows any favours – wouldn’t be so bad if Deal was back to 45 minutes and at 3.45pm, with Countdown at 3pm, so they line up with the BBC1 slots. Ideally then they’d restrict Come Dine with Me and it’s clones to 4.30pm and air something new at 5pm as an alternative to The Chase and Pointless, so probably not in the game show genre.

Talking of which though what ever happened to the UK version of Next One Forward?

Mmm, it certainly doesn’t help Countdown and Deal, but their Sarcastic Voiceover Shows do well for them – about 1.5m, so I can understand why they might make them more prominent.

Don’t know what’s happened/happening with The Next One, but I’m terrified it’ll become rubbish anyway (if other foreign versions are anything to go by), especially if it’s going to be on Channel 4 so may be it’s for the best. The Italian show continues to break all sorts of records.

At least it’s actually counterprogramming against Chase and Pointless rather than throwing 5MTAF against it. I actually think that’s a good schedule, and probably a de facto final season announcement for Deal (which probably shouldn’t have got this season, to be brutally honest; the Paintworks redevelopment was probably a natural ending they should have taken).

Considering, it’ll have little effect on the programme and isn’t to do with Channel 4, that doesn’t make sense.

Still wonder how 5 Mins to a Fortune would have done if C4 had been smarter with their scheduling and aired it over the summer against the Twisters. Considering other under performing shows have been recommissioned and it was no secret ITV were bringing back Paul O’Grady for a pre-Christmas run they probably should have commissioned a second series just to test the water when The Chase wasn’t around. Pointless has picked up a good million or so viewers sinc POG aired, so there were viewers about to be had.

Good call Brekkie. 5MTAF was an enjoyable shows with lots of playalong value, but how was it ever going to do any good against two other very popular established gameshows in their prime on bigger channels?

Poor Countdown – watch it fall through the floor again. At least DOND will have a head start on Tipping Point, I suppose.

I guess this means Fifteen To One will slip back in at 4:30. Probably the best place for it.

DOND managed 1.25m yesterday, about 30% above it’s 12 month average. I think I said way back in January that Tipping Point’s biggest impact would be on Deal, and its growth the past few weeks seems to suggest that’s the case.

A bit of a milestone- CBS has picked up Survivor for the 2014-2015 season, which will take it to Season 30 (and its 15th anniversary)

Can’t see it going anywhere for a while – I’d have thought once it reaches the stage where it’s place in the schedule is questioned they would first switch it to one season a year (perhaps alternatinve with The Amazing Race) rather than dropping it outright.

Quite remarkable too that all three of the big CBS reality shows have had the same host since 2000/2001.
