Schlag den Raab – 1st November 2014 #bbsdr – CANCELLED

By | October 31, 2014

schlagdenraab

This episode has been postponed as Raab is ill. I’ll keep the article up because it’s a hassle changing on my iPad – Brig.

Saturday 1st November,
7:15pm UK (8:15 on the continent),
ProSieben and naughty internet streaming

It’s 49 up for Raab as he defends a whopping €2.5m jackpot against a member of the public over fifteen mystery games.

And again we will be providing sort-of-live commentary, which doesn’t really work as live commentary because of all sorts of delays. HOWEVER it will likely be fun to listen to, and will likely feature all sorts of fun and games along the way. So why not come and join us? Unfortunately I won’t be around to “commentate” this episode as I am literally moving house, but it’s looking good for TV’s David J Bodycombe, Daniel Peake and Lewis Murphy. And maybe, MAYBE, a mystery fourth special guest.

The musical turns this episode are ZAZ and Bother’s Bar favourites Die Fantastichen Vier.

Here are the deets.

Here are all the links you need:

You will need to check the comments for the live commentary stream which one of the team will post, you can also follow them on Twitter.

This is the primary stream we will be watching live and basing our commentary on. You will need to have both the commentary stream AND the live stream running at once for our sound and their visuals.

That stream will probably go down at some point during the evening, here’s our first back-up one. If it all goes down, once we’ve finished panicking, we’ll put up links to streams we can find on here and on Twitter.

Follow us on Twitter for immediate news if something goes wrong. Or because we’re fun guys!!!! @bothersbar@danielpeake@ogbajoj@davidjbodycombe.

Schlag den Raab has been cancelled for tomorrow. Prosieben Twitter feed saying he has the flu. The show will be rescheduled for a later date.

Happy 9th Birthday to Deal Or No Deal today, of course, and a fitting game to prove that on it’s day it’s STILL great telly.

(I must say I still don’t like 23 but the Offer button seems a good tactical addition – why didn’t they just introduce that rather than 23…!)

Earliest possible date for the reschedule is Sat 15th November.

Himmel oder Holle (new-ish gameshow) is meant to air that night, but the ratings which started off great (16.0% in the target group), collapsed for the second episode just a few weeks ago (5.3% in the target group). It is scheduled for Saturday 15th November at present, but after its poor ratings, I wouldn’t be surprised if Prosieben put SdR on that date instead.

If Raab does return on Monday, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the 15th (TV Total Stock Car is next week, the 8th).

CORRECTION: It seems from Prosieben’s schedule that they have a film repeat, so they have pulled Himmel oder Holle altogether.

Brig might like to check out Himmel oder Holle before it disappears from the site, as it’s quite interesting in terms of tone and studio layout. They have a HUGE set with Heaven above a suspended floor and Hell below. It seems that you get to answer questions upstairs, and do studio-based minor Release the Hounds-type shenanigans as forfeits downstairs.

            Translation:

Host Jochen Schropp is the top candidate in the “sky” of the two-story show studios questions with four possible answers. Is not the subscriber sure he can (to) take the suffering away about the “hell”. Evelyn Weigert down there waiting with devilish tasks. Those who accept the challenge and there, has managed to win the stage and must answer the next “heaven” question. Overall there is to win in ten rounds up to 50,000 euros. The candidate can always get out and go with the earned sum home. What risk the players a thick lip? What is the value Wachsspielchen? And how far one goes for 50,000 euros?

How are they getting out of the ‘must sir for a year’ clause?

Good news everyone, I get proper internet back tomorrow.

Probably will buy their way out of it…they’re replacing it with reruns of Masterchef Junior, which shows what they thought of it (and cancelling it without warning on a Sunday- even the producer was shocked, as they were trying to reboot the show with more audience votes)…

It wasn’t…the first episode did decent but not OK (they aired it after an NFL game on a Sunday, which inflates the numbers because the games tend to overrun into later timeslots), the normal shows went downhill quickly.

The original plan was to show episodes Tuesdays and Fridays for a few weeks, then go only to Tuesdays (Masterchef Junior was supposed to air Fridays). After a couple of weeks, they scuttled the Tuesday episodes because it was getting trounced (it was going against NCIS, which is one of the top-rated shows in the US, and The Voice, while not as strong as it used to be still does very well in the key demographics).

Fridays are kind of a dull night overall nowadays (date night/high school football), but the ratings were continuing to go down (it was barely in 4th place for the night), and I figure that Fox didn’t want to throw good money after bad (they spent $50 million on the rights and the setup)- so they axed the show and will be airing reruns of Masterchef Junior (which was supposed to have new episodes on Friday, but now will have new eps Tuesdays and the repeat on Friday).

Overall, I think the problem is it was the wrong network (Discovery probably would have had a better shot working with it, but may not have been able to afford it), the casting was horrible (a lot of confrontational people instead of cooperative ones), and just plain old Reality TV fatigue (I suspect at least one of the longer running reality shows will be cancelled after this season- my guess is it’ll be either Biggest Loser, Amazing Race, or American Idol, with Dancing with The Stars an outside chance)…

Just seen this. Thanks. Raab vs Klitschko will be interesting (Klitschko fight on RTL later that night).

The last episode of the year (50th ep of SdR) will be on the 20th December.
