Man in Box Update

He’s out, but they’re not revealing the location yet so you can keep playing. Apparently he’s not been made aware of the location yet either and will make a decision about the immediate future of the competition when he’s a bit more mentally together. Which seems reasonable.

So so long, Man in Box. Interesting idea, something not quite right in the execution.

Is it only me that feels a touch puzzled by the way in which Man in Box has now ended? If nothing else it strikes me as rather a PR failure on the part of the organisers. While I appreciate that no-one won the prize, and the thirty days have elapsed, does anyone else feel there’s an obligation of some sort, owed to those who’ve followed the contest throughout, for at least two things to happen: firstly, simply to give the correct answer, and secondly, to demonstrate that the whole thing was not a hoax, as many on the website’s forums and elsewhere are suggesting, eg by showing footage of Tim Shaw leaving the box on the outside.
Sure, they don’t have any obligation to do these things. And what’s more I don’t think it’s a hoax in the slightest, too many reasonable, level-headed people involved for that. But isn’t there a degree of goodwill involved here? Don’t those who’ve invested time and effort getting involved with the idea deserve a proper conclusion? Any thoughts? Or am I taking it way too seriously, and in fact, quite rightly, nobody cares?

No I think you’re right, and I noticed whilst having a look this afternoon that there doesn’t seem to be any forum access (although that may have changed in the interim).

I can’t believe it’s going to get any more publicity, so I think it’s a bit harsh not to reveal where the box is right now.

i agree, i feel a bit peeved that it has just been left as a publicity page and plugging for the next one. i personally would not get involved again as i think it was quite poorly run. i feel they do have a duty to all those that supported Tim and help for heros to bring it to a concluson. without them he would not have generated enough interest to raise the monies and surely they should have spoken about what happens at the end of it.

Totally agree, I followed MIB from when he first went in for the whole 30 days and was very active on the website. Made made over 1000 clicks to guess and as apparently lots of people were close ao would not be surprised if I got main location right (obviously not close enough to 4metres) but still don’t know. I want to know where he was, or at least be told the new prize as it continues, so I can decide whether to bother still looking now he’s out. I feel quite aggrieved that the forum has just been stopped and that there is now no communication at all with the other box hunters. Many of us spent many, many days’ worth of time looking for that box!

Well, Tim seems to be OK, they want to repeat the idea, but they still haven’t said where it was, only that “someone was 100m away from the location”. Hmm.
