The Taskmaster S11 line-up

By | December 18, 2020

After so many people confidently predicted they wouldn’t release the Taskmaster S11 line-up after the finale last night, they released the Taskmaster S11 line-up after the finale last night.

Off the top of my head, really excited Lee Mack’s doing it, even if he’s crap at the tasks he ought to be good at the studio chat. Most of the others are a bit of a mystery – Jamali Maddix’s beard has been an up and coming Dave Celebrity for a little while and is likable enough. Mike Wozniak did a podcast called Mr Gameshow with Diane Morgan a few years ago which was quite amusing, it’s been pointed out to me that he also plays a character on Greg Davies sitcom Man Down. I’m afraid I had to look up the women – Charlotte Ritchie is an actress and singer-songwriter who was in Fresh Meat and Call the Midwife, Sarah Kendall is an Australian comic. So there we are. Edit: Thanks Steve in the comments, Wozniak won the original Edinburgh Taskmaster over ten years ago.

There’s a Champion of Champions happening as well with the winners of series 6-10 being invited back. It almost feels like Too Much Taskmaster, even if it’s no different schedule wise to being on Dave really (except the New Year thing).

As someone on DigitalSpy pointed out, Mike Wozniak won the original Taskmaster in Edinburgh in 2009.

I feel the need to counter-anti-whinge here. I watch different versions of the show for different reasons, and I want different things from them. I really ejnoyed getting to know unfamiliar comics on New Zealand TM, as discussed on the Discord, but a lot of the fun of the UK version is seeing familiar faces test their skills. This lineup delivers on that to less of an extent than I would like. I’m not sure I’d want an entire UK lineup with all comedians I was familiar with (at least, not for more than a champion-of-champions-length enterprise). I’m not sure I’d want an entire UK lineup with all comedians I wasn’t familiar with. I’d like a balance between the two, and I’d like it to be tilted in a direction that it isn’t tilted in here.

Too Much Taskmaster? Quite possibly so.

re: Charlotte Ritchie – has nobody watched Ghosts? You should be watching Ghosts. It’s great.

^^ This. Ritchie should be familiar from E4 series ‘Pixels’ and that episode of Doctor Who she was in a couple of years ago as well.

Sarah Kendall is a comic I absolutely loved in the mid 00s then seemed to completely go off the (or my) radar for years and has now randomly had a comeback with her own Sky sitcom and a few other things. She should be really, really good.

I thought I remembered Alex saying they wouldn’t do another champion of champions, in the same interview where he said they wouldn’t do a loser’s special.

So is this all the new news we’re getting for 2021?

I know that they have already taped Series 11 so that should air Early 2021. I imagine that they will film the COC sometime in Early 2021 which they would broadcast in the Autumn, where they will announce the cast for Series 12, which will be filmed in late 2021 for broadcast in early 2022.

Taskmaster Aires 2 series a year (apart from this one for obvious reasons)

I imagine they already have the s12 and S13 line up locked in and just waiting to film.

S12 should be on same time next year in autumn.

Depends what obvious reason you mean – it wasn’t because of Covid there was only one series this year, that was always the plan – C4’s press release when the poached Taskmaster this time last year said their first series would debut late 2020. I believe filming for S10 started taking place well before the ink on the C4 contract was dry
