Here is a thing.

Given that it managed to rate more than ITV’s entire output last night, I wonder if they’ve given any thought to a Sage-less series of The Krypton Factor?

You could totally strip a celebrity version over Christmas (four heats and a final) as a prelude/companion to a proper civilian series, a bit like Masterchef. And before anyone gets sniffy, the original had loads of celebrity specials (they just don’t show them on Challenge).

Although you’d have to bring back the intelligence test, obviously.

Totally agree, but I’d rather have the Burns-era setup than the Shepard-era, not for kitsch purposes, but because the atmosphere fits better.

I actually think a ‘super round’ K-Fac could still work, just needs a bit better weighting of points to advantages and having working touch screen equipment in the earlier rounds.

The idea of using one’s skill and judgement to compensate for weaknesses is as much a part of modern life as anything else, and with the right editing it has the whizz-bang dramatic element ITV may want.

You can add Millionaire to that as well. Turns out Missing Millions (a totally original show, not based on Heir Hunters) had 500,000 viewers less than Millionaire had last year.

Definately agree The Krpypton Factor should be back – and it could definately be milked to 45 minutes for a Sunday night slot by adding back in either Response or Intelligence (or both). Indeed given how many shows are paced now they’d probably stretch it to an hour too.

Let me add my Stateside baritone to the chorus of those wishing for a new round of “The Krypton Factor”. And yes, the “Intelligence” (more properly “problem solving”) round should return.

I’m not so sure about the Response round, though. The original one, with the Fleischmann Flexibility Test and suchlike might seem too contrapted today. And the kick is gone from flight simulators–especially in a day and age where every other household has a Wii or a PlayStation or an XBox.

And there’s no need for a “Super Round”. After all, the contestants have already been through an Assault Course, and don’t need another one! (Especially one that look liked something from Nickelodeon’s “Guts”!)

And here’s another Stateside baritone approving of a new Krypton Factor. I’ve even designed a new assault course for the series, plus a few Mental Agility exercises, Intelligence test puzzles, and a few lists of General Knowledge questions.

If you cut Response, at least you could up the General Knowledge round to two minutes and make each question +/- 1, which makes a come from behind victory possible in most cases but not too easy. I guess a Super Round might work better in the States, and it might be a hit among fans of Guts. One more query, should we give the women a head start on the assault course?
